An old-style coffee shop within the walking distance from Tokyo station(actually, closer to Nihonbashi station). The mocha soft ice cream \330 is very popular at the stand, but, to me, it was just mediocre coffee flavored ice cream in usual supermarkets or convenience stores nowadays. I found this month’s special, Tanzania Kigoma Kibo \679, was fresh and two days old after the roast, although they claim it lasts a year. In fact, when I poured hot water, it expanded a bit. It was bitter at the very first impression, but basically just sour and gave me a bad feeling(when I made it with too hot water? or when the beans were too fresh?). This bean should not be too light as it is middle roasted(5grade/10). Maybe you need a cake. However, the flavor was much smaller than, say, Panama Tipica of Cabin coffee. It smelled from the bulb of the bag before I opened it, but possibly, it was because the gas was somehow condensed inside at that time. After I opened it actually didn’t smell that strongly. Although it claims fruity, it wasn’t fruity nor winey at all. All the other beans sold here were rather not fresh according to the expiring dates, possibly because not many people buy beans.(It still remains possible the Nihonbashi blend in the glass bottle at the café corner may be fresh as it goes off soon.)
