My husband and I were so excited to stumble upon this place as it reminded us of Chipotle from back in the US, similar concept of picking bowl, burrito, taco etc. and your choice of protein. I had a beef burrito and my husband had chicken tacos. Every piece of beef in my burrito was so tough I had to politely spit it out until I just picked it all out and essentially had a vegetable burrito. My husband thought he couldn’t go wrong with chicken tacos but unfortunately they were cold! The best part about our visit was they had craft beer –my husband was happy about his Sculpin at least. We will not be returning :(

For burritos and Mexican-ish food in Kamakura, this place is great! We stumbled upon it on the way to the beach one day, and now we go every time we are in Kamakura! When you’re this far away from home, any version of a taco is exciting! We’ve both had the avocado veggie tacos, burrito and burrito bowl, all are good! Also, that apricot mojito is effing excellent on a hot day. I’m not really sure if it’s supposed to be a car shop, dealership, or if those cars are just hanging out in this converted space for a bit of ambiance, but I’m not going to complain. Tacos!

On our day trip to Kamakura, my wife and I stopped in for a brief lunch at Copen and definitely enjoyed it! I would describe as a super modern twist on a 50s style diner perhaps? Bright with all the windows and a convertible sitting inside, we liked the vibe. I can’t recall all the items in the menu but the Food options were of a Mexican style variety — we got tacos which I highly recommend. Wishing we could have tried more but if you are in the area and want a break from traditional Japanese fare this is a great healthy spot.

Used to be located near beach but moved to near Kamakura station. Copen Is Japanese super light convertible car made by Daihatu. Daihatu will release its 3rd generation models soon and this café has its marketing functions. You can choose your table first and go to their cashier to order. I ordered Avocado vegetable tacos(600 Yen/2 pieces) and Coronado Islander IPA(840 Yen). This Coronado Islander IPA has strong flavor with 7% alcohol. Avocado tacos are not bad but not so good either… served prepared stuff like chopped avocado and lettuce are warped by flour tortilla. nothing special is going on… they didn’t even heat the tortilla… I should try next something warm food quesadilla or buffalo wing. I saw many sightseers here, it is good to have something before going to the beach or walking around to temples…
