Another reason I like Japan– great restaurants near major train stations. My friend and I were looking for a bar to chill at until the Unilocal event later that evening. Less than a 5 min walk from JR. Akabane east exit. Aka-Baru Retze is a nice place for a light snack and a beer. Pizza cooked from a brick oven. Ordered a Margherita pizza. Nice thin crust, light sauce and cheese. A satisfying light treat to go with my beer. 6 beers on tap– Belgium, Irish, English & Japan brews. I ordered the Belgium Hoegaarden beer. A light beer with a slight taste of citrus. My friend went with the Bass Ale. Another great pick. Customer service was great. Got our orders in and got our beers right away. We sat near the brick oven. Our bartender/chef kept us entertained. He understood some English and was patient with us. To those not from Japan I challenge you to hop on a train, get off at a random station and try a new restaurant/café/bar. You could find your next favorite place. SYOY! See you on Unilocal
