This is a great place for a meal in Kyoto. Friendly staff, English menu, and delicious tempura. Their homemade sauce was tasty, and the tempura was light and crispy. It was also easy to pick out some vegetarian options.

Dropped by this place for lunch on a workday after seeing its high score on a couple of Japanese restaurant ranking sites. The menus have large photos of what you’re ordering(didn’t check if they have an english menu), so tourists need not be worried. Of the few lunch menu items, I opted for the 890 yen tendon(tempura rice bowl), which i upgraded to large(more rice only, not tempura) for free, and which comes with miso soup. I haven’t had a good tendon in a while and this one was excellent, topped off with an impressively large piece of my favorite type of tempura: eggplant. Pricier than the tendon you might find at certain fast food chains, but much better all around, including the little pot of sauce they give you to pour over top. Will definitely go back at some point.
