Music was too loud to stay for hours. Waitpersons were not quite familiar nor ready to help us on that Wednesday’s night. The atmosphere and foods were okay.

If I were you, I would get here early because the lines are ridiculous! Beside waiting forever just to sit down, the food and atmosphere is awesome :) there’s a wide range of books that you’re allowed to borrow as well. I order the smoked salmon and avacado sandwich. The portion size is decent, you will be satisfied just with the sandwich. There was a good amount of salmon and avacado as well, so no disappointment there ;) it doesn’t make it clear on the menu, but you also get a side of french fries & a salad, so you don’t need to order those sides separately. The service was also great, the staff was always available and attended to their customer’s needs. I would definitely recommend this restaurant

Brooklyn Parlor is a New York style bar/restaurant in shinjuku. It’s a pretty close walk from shinjuku San chome station. Not too far from Marui(OIOI). The burgers are great. Last time I went, I ordered the blue cheese pineapple burger and it was fantastic. I also love the thin and crispy shoe string fries. The rest of the menu is a bit disappointing though. From now on I will eat the burgers and only the burgers here. My biggest issue with this restaurant is not the food itself but the staff seems to always be Occupied with other things. I sat at my table for twenty minutes yelling sumimassen! And continually getting passed by. Finally someone stopped and begrudgingly got me my beer. Seems the restaurant adopted the unfriendly New York attitude as well as the food. The atmosphere here is pretty great though. It’s got a large dining area with big tables. It’s got a lot of books and magazines we can look through and the tables are nice with a good décor. Enjoyed it and I am sure I’ll be back for another one of these burgers and a nice cold Brooklyn Lager. Weekends are very busy and I would recommend a reservation. Weekdays you may still have to wait if you don’t have a reservation but probably only 15 – 30 mins. If you’re near shinjuku 3chome and craving a good burger and fries I’d recommend this place.

A demás hacen unas limonadas buenísimas!

I heard about this place because I’ve been craving some Brooklyn Brewery beer and did a search on the web. It’s tucked underneath a department store in Shinjuku that took me a bit of time to find. Upon entering, I was surprised that this isn’t really a bar. It’s laid out almost like a Starbucks, with a combo of tables and couches. I actually fits the theme of the restaurant quite well. But no bar area. It would be a great place to grab a few friends and get one of the couches for some lazy afternoon drinking. Not sure if they can hold a seat but I got there in the mid afternoon in a Monday and it was pretty packed. I got a seat without waiting but there were few to spare. The menu I got was the afternoon menu so it was a bunch of appetizers and quick dishes like sandwiches and burgers. I got myself a Brooklyn Brewery lager draft and some«buffalo style» chicken wings. The beer was amazing, seeing how I haven’t had it in a few months now and despise most Japanese beers. The fact that it was on tap makes this a new favorite watering hole. The wings however were very disappointing. This is the second time I’ve gotten chicken wings in Japan and they do it the same way here I suppose, meaning they only give you half the wing, no legs. So an order of 10 wings is really only 5. The sauce on the wings was also more of a marinara sauce then anything else. It also came with a side of some sort of tasteless white sauce(not ranch or blue cheese). Looking at some other dishes though, they looked pretty good, especially the burgers. I definitely give it another try for food but not the wings again. It’s also fairly pricey so be prepared to pay.

Brooklyn Parlor is a New York style café & bar located nearby JR Shinjuku station. It’s a café at noon and a bar in the evening. I ordered herbal tea and a quiche with a small portion of salad. The herbal tea was served in a pot, which fills three cups. Food tasted real nice and I enjoyed the café’s atmosphere in which you can enjoy music and many kinds of magazines. Food prices are relatively expensive, for instance the tea was 700 yen and quiche was 800 yen, but in terms of the location it’s acceptable prices. Overall, I liked the café, but the staffs’ service wasn’t so nice so I rated 4 out of 5.

Barnes & Noble meets McSorleys Old Ale House! While not original it’s still a superb concept of aesthetics and intellectual ambiance enjoyed with a pint of local brew is genius! Being a foreigner I felt at home and momentarily away from the local tradition. We enjoyed a burger and a pint and it was delicious. I understand locally they allow smoking but hope they would adopt the idea of healthy eating and ask patrons to smoke outside instead.

A friend of a friend suggested coming here for dessert after dinner because the servers here are really good looking. Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder; however, I think this place is great. The atmosphere is very cool and swanky with not that expensive menu items. A bottle of wine was 2800 yen. It’s in the basement of the building and is a great place to fine with friends. I love the décor as it’s earthy-modern(is this even a term?). There is also a library of books that you can borrow during your dining experience here. I think the staff here speak English so it’s gaijin friendly. Good for: dessert, drinks

I had dinner here tonight. To make a long story short: worst service and food in a long time. The atmosphere is nice if you like to eat in a underground library with 7 types of furniture but ok, I can live with that. What I cannot live with is that I ordered a sparerib as an appetizer, listed under appetizers, but did not get it. I had to watch how the rest of my family ate theirs because it took so long. How hard can it be to reheat a sparerib? By the time I got my steak, under protest, because I did not get my appetizer yet, my sparerib was ready. I explained to the guy who was bringing it that I ordered it as an appetizer and that I was already eating my main course. There had to come 2 other guys with the same God forsaken sparerib until they understood that I refused to eat a steak and sparerib at the same time. I am not a hobo, neither am I at an American stuff-your-face-with-food contest, I thought. If you need 3 people to understand this you have some real problems if you ask me. Nobody of the staff spoke any English(to me). They did not understand the word«appetizer». I repeat. They did not understand the word appetizer, while working in a place with an English name, English slogans, American cuisine, menu etc. This restaurant would have gotten 3 stars if they managed to get me a proper steak. If they would have brought me a nice«200 gram steak» as advertised and imagined, I would’t have such problem with a mistake. The thing is, unfortunately, the steak I got was barely 100 gram and looked and tasted more like a fat schnitzel. Also, I asked for a rare one and this 3 mm thick meaty thing was at least medium well. The hamburger and caesar salad other people had at my table were not good either. The hamburger didn’t taste like meat at all and there was a freaking greengrocer worth of veggies on top of it. The salad was meh. Just lettuce with sauce, croutons and cheese. That’s not a proper salad, specially when you know it’s not even under«sides» or «appetizers». It was supposed to be a full course dish. No way. Do not go here.

After a few days in Tokyo, we were getting a little sick of the local fare, so we decided to check out the Japanese take on a Brooklyn café. I have to say that they almost got it. Cool room, exposed brick, lots of book shelves to just browse or grab one and hang. Oh yeah, Brooklyn Brewery on tap too. $ 9 for a beer? Looks like they got the New York pricing too. Downside? Smoking. Even though we were in a non smoking area, you really couldn’t avoid it. As for the food, the wife went with a pâté salad and I went for the burger. The wife seemed to like the salad but for me the burger was ok. I suppose no burger is going to match one from the states, but this was just weird. The burger had the texture of a steak more than ground beef. Either way, this is a cool spot to hang and grab a drink or bite if you can deal with the smoking.

Awesome place to chill at. The music and atmosphere was great. I went on a Friday around 3pm. The crowd was made up of foreigners, couples, people by themselves, groups of females, and a few kids(with their mommies of course). The menu has both Japanese and English, and a few pictures(mainly the desserts). Ordered a chicken Caesar salad and a sundae and was not let down. Prices were decent. Will definitely come again.
