Motokare Bar

This bar could and should be rated a lot higher than 3 stars. The main reason for rating it higher would be the owner. Super friendly guy who is South Korean and the other punters who again were very chatty. The owner took plenty of time with us to write out places we should go and talk to us about Scotland and whiskey. He seemed a good guy.
Why only three stars —
1. The place is tiny and very very messy. Tiny is fine, but you need to keep it looking good otherwise it can feel a bit of a dive.
2. They had no beer left! The dude had forgotten to order it! No I’m not kidding.
3. I found out later that the whiskey he gave us was the cheapest of the cheap. I felt a bit ripped off.
So the most I can muster on the Unilocal rating scale is 3 stars. Worth a pint if your passing and they have got beer in stock, but nothing worth going out your way to visit.

A great bar for both Tokyo locals and travelers. Located close to Golden Gai and Higashi-​Shinjuku station, this is one of my favorite bars in Tokyo.
Kim (owner) is an awesome guy and you can always count on interesting conversation with him or others at the bar. Always a friendly atmosphere with mixed local and foreigner clients.
In Kabukicho where prices/​cover charge is often expensive, Motokare has some of the best prices for drinks in the area. Highly recommend!
