Towards the end of my stay, I found the craft bug biting me. Never mind that there was literally an ocean between me and my sewing machine — I wanted fabric, and I wanted it right then and there. A quick Unilocal search revealed Okadaya so off I went. I found it with ease, and marched up to the sixth floor where I was greeted with more buttons than I think I have ever seen in my life(except maybe Tender Buttons in New York). That was only the beginning — as I went through, I quickly saw that this place had it all: sewing machines, sewing notions, knitting yarn and needles, pretty much everything you could possibly want or need to start or continue knitting, sewing, embroidery, or other general craftiness. The bottom three floors are even dedicated to makeup and stage makeup, and I believe that there was lingerie in the basement. Truly one-stop shopping. Except, I was promised fabric, and in this six floor building, there was none to be found. Disappointed, I walked out of a different entrance than I walked in and there it was right in front of me: a second building, nearly as tall, entirely dedicated to fabric. I nearly squealed. The floors are divided by fabric type and they truly do have everything. It was incredible. I showed an immense amount of restraint and walked away empty handed(not being able to read the labels helped, and I felt a little awkward using my photo-based translation app when there were signs everywhere indicating that cameras were not allowed). I was also disappointed by the yarn selection, but as I used to live a stone’s throw away from the largest yarn shop in America, that’s probably to be expected. But what a fabulous little craft shop! I’m quite envious I don’t have this in the states.
