After having a few drinks at Watering Hole a few blocks down, a group of us walked over to Torikizoku. The selling point to hook us in was that everything is under ¥300. Since I was in Japan for vacation, I didn’t mind where we went as long as there was good food in front of me, so I was all in. Located on the ninth floor of some random building, the small janky elevator fits at most 6 – 8 people at any given time. Once we reached to Torikizoku, the smoke filled izakaya was packed with people, but we were seated within 10 minutes. They do have English menus available, but if you try ordering in English… good luck! The language barrier is real and so is the struggle, but luckily we had some locals with us to take care of the ordering. And so the fourth meal of our day begins haha. First round of drinks goes to Cassis cocktails. I’ve never heard of it before, but I decided to have it with orange juice, while friends got theirs mixed with grapefruit juice and soda. It tasted like juice so I’m not excels sure what Cassis is supposed to taste like, but I feel like it’s a very light shochu or something. Food! Since everything is ¥280, we ordered a bit of everything. Yakitori(mochi cheese, chicken wasabi, chicken and green onion, liver, gizzard) French fries, tori kamameshi and tororoyaki. Everything was amazing and tasty. I recommend coming here, but try bringing someone who speaks the language to help with ordering. Pictures are helpful, but depending on the server, you may just get by on your own. Good luck and happy eats!
