First off, tonkatsu comes from Japan and no one does it better. That being said, Wako is a cut above the rest! Yes, there may be more higher-end tonkatsu places out there, but for the price, they’re hard to beat. You can get an awesome, or more awesome dish for ¥750−1800. There are higher priced ones too; all depends on what you want to spend. Don’t be a snob — the lowest priced items are still amazing examples of tonkatsu! Expect a line. Usually takes around 10 minutes to get in. The staff doesn’t really(or at all) speak English, but they do have an English menu. Follow the pretty pictures — what you see is what you get: D Cabbage, rice, and their(awesome) clam miso soup are replenished upon request. They also offer a take-out window if you’re on the go. Japan Tip: It’s legal to drink alcohol in public. BUT, if you drink or eat anything while walking around, it’s considered rude. Stop walking, respect the effort that went into the food, and enjoy it. Wako is mandatory whenever I’m in Tokyo. Don’t hesitate!

My husband and I stopped here for lunch and definitely enjoyed our meal. Wako Tonkatsu is a chain focused on tonkatsu(my husband’s favorite food in Japan). I like the fact that they serve shrimp as well as pork. Husband liked his pork dish and I enjoyed my shrimp. The sauces were delicious and we tried their potato salad and French fries too. The fries were steak cut potatoes and prepared very nicely. Overall I would eat here again. Exceptional service, as would be expected, and convenient location.
