Cruising along in Pirates of the Carribean sailboats, waiting to meet Jack and be regaled about the joys of piracy, I’ve always wondered what it must be like to dine at Blue Bayou restaurant(seeing the ride from the other side). This year I finally found out. In Tokyo Disneyland this is classified as one of the higher end restaurants(it will cost you between 3000 to 5000 yen per person) so you go in expecting a lot. One thing it’s best not to expect, purely due to logistics, is a prime Pirates viewing location: there are only so many tables next to the river and the vast majority have only a vague view. Still it’s nicely lit and quite a romantic setting for a meal, good view of not. My husband and I decided to go all out and eat the special chef’s set. This came with unlimited bread in two varieties, unlimited soft drink, tea or coffee, an entrée, main and dessert. There were two options for the entrée but the main and dessert were set. We both chose the seafood plate for an entrée over the soup. It was very fresh and tasty, if a tad underwhelming. The main of fillet steak was perfectly cooked(a beautiful piece of meat done medium rare) with an absolutely divine mushroom sauce and sides The strawberry cheesecake was very sweet but delicious. The waitresses were absolutely suburb and very attentive. We were offered bread and drinks almost immediately after we finished, each and every time. Furthermore our meals were delivered promptly and with a smile. I particularly enjoyed how, after we had finished all our food and despite the line outside the door, our waitress refilled out sodas and did not rush us out the door(if only they had this same policy at all restaurants in Disney parks). Though the meal was by no means cheap it was good food, served with a smile in a prime location. Considering that Tokyo Disneyland cuisine is generally lacking I was very impressed with the quality and would recommend Blue Bayou to anyone who, like me, has ever wondered about Jack Sparrow’s favourite meal.

Everyone knows about the Blue Bayou, but did you know that there is also one is Japan? The best part about the Tokyo restaurant is that the food is better than Anaheim! The Blue Bayou Restaurant, just like in Anaheim, is located next to the Pirates of the Caribbean. You can make reservations when you first enter the park in the morning or you can wait in line ten minutes before they open. The food here is different from the dishes in Anaheim and like the rest of Japan, the portions are smaller. But just because the dishes are different doesn’t mean that the food is worse. In fact, the food is tastier than Anaheim. The gratin with snow crab, scallops, and salmon was surprising delicious. Usually, I don’t like creamy, cheesy dishes with seafood but it all worked together and it was rich. The sautéed pork with a mushroom cream sauce was good too, but the grilled beef tenderloin was the best. The desserts were awesome too! The poached peach with jellies was refreshing and was suitable for the Japanese palate. The assorted dessert plate was the best with the samples of banana crème, crème brûlée, and the chocolate pecan tart. All three desserts were amazing and left me wanting more, even though I was so full from the entrée. Overall, a great restaurant in the park! The lighting and the food is better than the Anaheim location and with the fantastic Japanese customer service, this place is amazing.
