This review is based on a local shop of a popular chain of «yakitori» restaurants called Sumire, but spelled as SMILE on their logo and signages. It seems the chain in general(a friend raved highly of the Shibuya branch which made me come here) is a great place to eat and drink that it has even spread out to Singapore. Although yakitori can be easily found in many yakitori shops and izakayas around Japan, this place is among my favorites when it comes to eating some great grilled yakitori(skewered meats) and downing cheap drinks. Don’t let that«cheap drinks» and«yakitori» paint an impression of a hole-in-the-wall establishment though, this place is a nice, clean casual restaurant, which is also great for families, which I really can’t say for most other places known for yakitori. I’ve come here with my family quite a few times and the service is always great, and of course the food consisting of all standard yakoitori offeriing and sides as well as some non-standard offerings is pretty much tasty and solid throughout the menu from everything I have tried, though granted we have our favorites that we usually go with, but have never been disappointed. If you ever come across a SUMIRE(Smile) restaurant in your travels, definitely check it out. Decent quality yakitori and cheap drinks will always put a smile on your face.
