Located at the end of Jalan Alor, Wong Ah Wah gets a lot of fame within the Chinese(and Chinese Malay) community as written in Chinese blogs. Unfortunately, Wong Ah Wah does not live quite to the hype of what people have written. FOOD: We got the chicken wings, satay, and shrimp. I will say only the chicken wings are worth it and the satay is pretty decent. The shrimp(or any seafood for that matter) are pretty pricey by Malaysian standards and should be avoided here. I thought the shrimp was alright, nothing to rave about. The wings though had the right amount of taste and deliciousness to it. Not quite like Korean wings, but similar in some aspects, it is quite delicious with the right amount of seasoning and cooked to perfection! SERVICE: Someone does attend to you. Nothing much to say here. Mandarin is definitely spoken here and is pretty busy. A place to visit on your tourist spot on Jalan Alor, but only 3 stars for me.

This spot near the end of Jalan Alor probably gets the most press of any of the vendors. Thing is, most of the restos here offer mostly the same things, even the hyped chicken wings are available at several different vendors. I would say, basically go by feel and crowds when you select a place on Jalan Alor. Surprisingly, food here is not THAT cheap, especially if you order seafood, or more specifically crab. But you can get by ok if you stick with the wings, a small fish and some noodles or fried rice. There is a Thai spot back up the street a couple booths that does a bigger steamed fish that was pretty memorable. The vendor directly across from WAW does crab a few more different styles, but again, pricey. The good thing about Jalan Alor is the late night hours. That’s about the only time I ever pay a visit now.

Don’t eat here. There is nothing special about the food. You’ll find comparable or even better food at Mall Food Courts.

Jalan Alor is probably one of the more established tourists attractions in Kuala Lumpur during the night, and here is famous for having supper and the experience of dining at road side restaurants. Jalan Alor is also probably famous among the locals as one of the places in Kuala Lumpur that sells one of the best BBQ chicken wings and that is precisely why I’m writing a review about Wong Ah Wah Restaurant that is situated along Jalan Alor. This is the place that serves the awesome and juicy BBQ chicken wings that people are raving about. This restaurant is always packed with customers on any given night, and I’m pretty impressed that people are really well informed when it comes to places with good food. I would visit Wong Ah Wah once in awhile to savour their awesome BBQ chicken wings. However, I noticed that they have increased their prices recently, I guess that is one of the set-backs when you’re favourite shop have gotten awfully famous! Despite that, I’m still coming back for more!

It is not acceptable if you live in KL your entire life and not venture into Jalan Alor. It is even more unacceptable if you ventured into Jalan Alor and not have the Chicken Wings here. The most famous and most talked about chicken wings are right here, flocked by massive crowds and tourists, you will know how known it is. I would I’ve had my fair share of the taste, but I find it very challenging to visit the place now. Prices are expensive now and even if you want to have some, it’s hard to even get your order up. I guess it’s safe to say it’s one of the tourist trap in KL nowadays. It’s just a must have whenever you’re visiting. The wings are undeniably delicious, but I once heard that the most dangerous pain is the pain you can’t feel. Understand? The pain here is the pain in your wallet, you’ll be sticking up so many wings, that you will only see the damage done after. Also, you probably won’t get a seat and have to wait a long while, nevertheless, as I said, you must have it at least once.

Wong Ah Wah chicken wings is one of the most famous food in Jalan Alor. Whenever you mention Jalan Alor, people will say«oh, that chicken wing place ar?». Yeah, that’s how famous Wong Ah Wah’s chicken wing is. If you’ve yet to try it, what are you waiting for? Some may think that they are overrated, but to me, I think that they taste alright. Just that their price is a little steep. It’ll cost you a bomb without you even realizing because chicken wings is so tiny, by the time you feel full you would be eating your tenth piece already. One thing about this place is, they’re always packed with tourists which is also why the food here are pricy(tourist price). I like bringing my friends(from outstation) here too. Hehe. Due to its popularity, it’s difficult to get a seat. Hence, be prepared to wait for your seat. To have delicious food, patience is required. Chicken wings especially because they need time to bbq the wings to perfection!

This is probably one of the most famous places in KL to eat chicken wings. You can ask anyone or Google places to have chicken wing and majority of them will tell you about Wong Ah Wah. However, the quality of the chicken wings have definitely dropped, most likely due to the mass demand and production of the chicken wings. As I’ve had a fair amount of BBQ-ing chicken wings, I can honestly say that they are not very easy to make and it also takes time. Each chicken wing costs RM3.20. Other than chicken wings, they have a lot of other stuff as well like seafood. But the service is not very friendly there. When I visited and ask the person to recommend some food, she just threw me the menu and asked me to look myself. I also requested for tissue countless of times and they kept saying that they’ll bring it to me but they didn’t. The other thing about Jalan Alor is that the parking and the jam. On weekends you’ll find it very difficult to find parking and you’ll have to round that area a couple of times. It is not a very long stretch of road, but because of the jam it can take up to 15mins to make a round. I’ve definitely had better chicken wings elsewhere.

If you’ve not been here, you’ve not been to Jalan Alor. This is absolutely the best restaurant you can get on this stretch of the road. First off, don’t be surprise if you couldn’t get a seat even if the restaurant stretches 3 shop lots apart. My friends and I had to split and stand across 3 shop lots just to see who gets a table first. Walking in you’ll notice that the walls are plastered with a lot of group pictures. And if you’re a fan of Chinese celebrities. You’ll find that this place is just so amazing to be able to attract all these stars. There are tons of food to order here but do make sure you get at least one seafood and their chicken wing. Just go crazy and order two for each person present. Staff service might seem slow and unresponsive but that is just because of the crazy crowd and everyone is pre occupied so do give them some time to react. Pricing here is absolutely reasonable for the portion and their taste is amazing.

Restaurant Wong Ah Wah, located in Jalan Alor is a place to go to for supper when you’re looking for good chicken wings. Definitely a great place to head to with your friends for supper. Be sure to order their chicken wings there and of course their Roast Pork Mee or also known as the Siew Yuk Min. The Siew Yuk Min is my favourite there, I can never get enough of it. I’ve only tried their other fried noodles like Hokkien Mee which just mediocre so just go for the Siew Yuk Min! They also have Ikan Bakar but I have yet to try it so maybe you could go and try it out. They’re always packed with local as well as foreigners so you may need to wait for a table and parking there can be a pain as well as Jalan Alor is always crowded. If you haven’t been to Wong Ah Wah at Jalan Alor, you are either living under the rocks or you’re not from KL. Famous for their chicken wings are seafood, WAW is thronged by tourists and locals every night. No reservations are allowed. So try your luck next time and come early because on weekends, it is almost impossible to get a table without at least a 30mins wait. But the delicious chicken wings and sting ray are worth the wait.
