Nasi Lemak Rm1.20

This is probably one of the most famous place for nasi lemak and also of the oldest spot to have a decent nasi lemak bungkus. At the same time, if you are not familiar with your surrounding in Petaling Jaya, this place can be rather unheard of.
Located around an industrial area, lies a food shed, that in my opinion is for the factory workers to get their meals from, a nasi lemak stall can be found. Personally, the nasi lemak bungkus is the ‘original’ way of having nasi lemak as it brings back nostalgic memories of my first time having one when I was in primary school.
For only RM1.20 per pack, it can be considered as cheap, nowadays, it is difficult to find food that worth less than RM3.50 in Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur. For a price of RM1.20, do not expect to have a big portion, but to have a few packets to fill the stomach up. I. myself, would need at least 3 before I am satisfied.
The sambal is something that I really like, and to me that’s what break or make the nasi lemak. Following that, is the rice. The rice isn’t overcooked, it has a nice fragrance from it. Very delicious.
Don’t expect the place to spot clean but nonetheless it is a decent place to have a pack of nasi lemak for supper.

The other day, I was up late at night working on project that was due. I was feeling a bit peckish, needless to say I decided to go for a drive and see what I can get. Nothing other than the usual ‘mamaks’ was open. No surprises there. But then it came to me-​223. A regular old open-​air food court, that’s plain to put it delicately. It’s not really known for it’s superb cleanliness. But before you get worked up, this is a spot where you can get local favourites at the oddest of hours.
This 24 hour food court, is usually packed on most days. Perhaps the most popular dish here is their choices of our local favourite, Nasi Lemak. I’ve always enjoyed the packet-​style Nasi Lemak and here you can get two amazing types; spicy or sweet and spice. It doesn’t sound like much, but trust there’s a whirlwind of difference. But before you sweat it out, as you enjoy your packet of Nasi Lemak, you can grab plates of regular favourites such as; fried chicken, smoked fish, sweet and sour squid, beef rendang and plenty other local yummy treats.
As you gobble up your food, they’d be people walking around offering fresh ‘otak-​otak’ by the buckets. I’m not particularly a fan of being interrupted while I eat, but it is delicious. You’d usually get through the first basket pretty fast. As for drinks, you have the usual favourites; the tarik, sirap limau ais. All of which, doesn’t even put a dent in your wallet. The place is relatively cramped up even in the late hours. But you can just pack it for home, that’s part of the fun of the packet-​style Nasi Lemak! It’s always a reliable spot when your hunger kicks in in the wee hours.

Nasi Lemak is considered as one of the national food. This is the place to get the best Nasi Lemak in the area. It’s delicious, cheap and awesome? Why awesome? Because it is remarkably delicious and just cost me RM 1.20 per packet !
Technically, Selera Jaya 223 is a foodcourt and you have to travel a bit further inside just to get these Nasi Lemak. There are two types of Nasi Lemak — the Red and Blue.
Both of the Nasi Lemak is produced by the different person. If you love spicy one, go for the red (Yati) and if you love the sweet type of Nasi Lemak, go for the blue one (Suri)
Otak-​Otak is not a food for zombies. It’s just a minced fish that seasoned well and grilled above the coal stoves just like satay.

Selera Jaya 223 is home to the famed 24 hour RM1.20 Nasi Lemak, where Malaysians have been flocking to try out the Nasi Lemak, specifically for the sole reason that its only Rm1.20. The nasi lemaks here come from two providers, ‘Suri’ and ‘Yati’. Honestly they both have their own unique taste, and at RM1.20 why bother droning on and make unnecessary comparisons, enjoy the best of both worlds guys, I usually get 3 packs each (these are small packs by the way, I’m not that greedy) mix em up, pick up a fried chicken and a fried egg and just go crazy. At Rm1.20 don’t expect anything too fancy, its Nasi Lemak in its simplest form, rice, hard-​boiled egg and sambal but dang they’re righteously tasty
