Quick review: 1. Taste(ramen) — mediocre, not worth the price paid($ 18 — $ 25). There are better alternatives. 2. Décor — very impressive minimilise interior design. However, the foldable chairs can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable 3. Food presentation — camera friendly. Unfortunately, it’s not as friendly on the tastebuds(see point number 1) 4. Service — staffs are warm and welcoming. However, the food took a while to be serve, even with relatively few customers Overall, if you just want to relax and have something Japanese, this is the place to go. If you’re like me and prioritise the taste of the food above everything else, you might want to try elsewhere. Disclaimer: I’ve only tried the ramen. Bet you didn’t know, this homey spot is indeed the Japanese sister of Awesome Canteen. It’s so new that the table tops are sparkling and the whole place is just soo clean! It still retains the canteen type of feeling with the furnishings but the food… didn’t disappoint at all! I would say a Japanese inspired café should be able to do a good bowl of ramen and boy, they did! The Prologue Ramen came piping hot with slivers of pork char siu(sorry, non halal), beef strips, marinated egg half, and the essential green onions and bamboo shoots. What really did it is the broth, the tonkotsu broth. Slurpsss! Don’t mistake tonkotsu for tonkatsu. The latter is really deep fried pork cutlet, just so you know=) We also had some snacks of deep fried shrimp with beer. I don’t know what it is but the Japs sure know the art of deep frying, maybe it’s the breading, or the fresh seafood, or the booze, whatever it is, please do give this place a try!
