Sushi Zanmai has always been one of my favourite Japanese restaurants to visit. They serve fresh sashimi and tasty ramen with reasonable prices. This outlet was no different as I had patronised this outlet before. Unfortunately, for whatever reason the food quality here had dropped considerably as compared to my last experience here. The Oyako Don tasted bland as the chicken was not marinated together with the rice during preparation. Curry chicken rice flavour is so so as if though the curry and chicken were cooked separately. Most parts of the outlet did not have sufficient air-condition. It was rather warm and humid. There was another table experiencing the same predicament as the woman was seen fanning her toddler. Rather disappointing for a restaurant of this calibre and it is not on par with branches elsewhere. They definitely need to improve on the quality of food and customer satisfaction.

Ever since the existence of Sushi Zanmai, they have became my go-to place for sushis! I like having my sushi here because their sushi are mostly made to order and served warm. This particular Sushi Zanmai is always crowded with people. Well I think all their branches are crowded with people! I guess one of the reason for having such crowd was that the prices of their food is fairly reasonable. Not too pricy and with the combination of the quality of the food that their serving, this place have became not just my go-to sushi places. It is now many people’s go-to sushi place. In conclusion, be prepared to queue for your sushis! It’s definitely worth the queue for the price you’re paying.

This was my staple meal for lunch during my brief university days in KDU College. My friends and I would come here often as the food is decent and affordable. One of my favorite is the chicken katsu don, and as for sushi is the salmon mentai. I would say they have kept their standards over the years as I still enjoy having my meals at Sushi Zanmai. Also their service has always been good except for the poor air circulation that’s make the place feels hot and stuffy.

I love to eat Japanese food and I was craving it for few weeks .It was the last friday, I was loitering around at One Utama with my boyfriend and saw a long queue infront of the sushi zanmai. So I decided to join the queue and have my dinner at this sushi zanmai. It was my first time here, I have tried sushi zanmai at other places but not at one utama .I waited about 15 minutes and finally is my turn. The waiter get me a table beside the spinning bar. I was looking at the food spinning around in front of me like a kid because i was really hungry at that moment. But sadly I did not see any sushi that I wanted. The sushi only left a few choices spinning around. I did not blame the chef because I understand that they were very busy in the kitchen. Then I decided to other my food from the menu. I ordered a few plates of my favorite sushi, a hand roll and a small spicy ramen. Surprisingly, the food came very fast. The soup of the ramen is too salty to me but overall it is delicious. The only food that I need to wait is the hand roll. I does not know why they serve the hand roll so slow. I have finished my ramen but the hand roll still haven been serve yet. The waiter then help me check for it and of course they make it immediately. The only food that I do not statisfied is the hand roll because I remember the hand roll is very fresh at the other outlet. The seaweed is usually very crispy but at this outlet the seaweed is very soft and it is very hard to bite. Another thing is the environment at this outlet is a little humid and make me feel very uncomfortable. Overall the food is not bad but sadly I will not come back to this outlet.

This is one of the places where my gatherings and alumni(s) takes place. Though on weekend lunch and dinner hours the queue is really really long, we would still wait as the food is just that good. Half of the clique are die hard japanese food fan while the others like myself is «just to fill up our stomach». The service is really efficient and quick which made most of us to return here everytime to eat. The price on the other hand is reasonable and they have certain sets where on can enjoy dishes such as soba, rice and katsu with misou soup and a dessert. Of course, coming from its name, they offer a large variety of sushi. Definitely a must place to visit if you are a japanese foodie!

For the past one year, every time I walked pass a Sushi Zanmai outlet in Malaysia, the queue is at least 10 persons long. And I’m not even kidding. For those who have been to Sushi Zanmai will know what I am talking about. I was always put off by the queue, but at the back of my mind was a constant curiosity. Is Sushi Zanmai so damn good? Well, for starters, Sushi Zanmai offers sushi starting from RM1.80 per plate before tax. It is by far the cheapest in the market. The price list is RM1.80, RM2.80, RM3.80, RM4.80 and RM6.80. Other special sushi sets will set you back more(and this is excluding set meals too). In addition to that, they have at least 100 different types of sushi to choose from, and they are delicious too! Their cheesy«mentai»(fish roe) sauce sushi is not too bad sits very well with the Malaysian taste buds. I ordered the Aburi Zanmai(an assortment of salmon, scallop, prawn, cuttlefish, omelette with cod roe and oyster) for 13.80RM and the Spider Rolls for 19.80RM which is Deep fried soft shell crab rolled in nori sheet and rice, tightly wrapped in Vietnamese spring roll skin and topped with avocado and cod roe mayonnaise. Super yum! The Salmon Mentai and Tamago Mentai were also amazing with a unique sauce that tasted so good. Their good service is also another factor to consider. For such a high customer turnover rate, I’d say Sushi Zanmai has gotten their sh*t together. When I asked for a change in tea cup because mine had a weird stain at the bottom of it, the waitress immediately came back with not 1, but 2 cups for me to choose from. Great service will always stand out, and it will constantly serve as a reminder of whether or not to go back to a particular store. For me, Sushi Zanmai has exceeded my expectations in almost every aspect, including price, quality of food and customer service, plus their outlets are usually in popular shopping malls so it is convenient and strategically located. Therefore, I’ve concluded that the reason why the queue is always so long is due to the fact that Sushi Zanmai has mastered the ability to provide a wide variety of affordable sushi that also tastes good and appeals to the local mass. Will definitely be back for more(even if it means queueing all over again!) because you can never get enough of Sushi Zanmai!

If you’re into fine quality sushi, this is the spot. It almost seems like they created a little section right in the middle of the mall just for this place. It is right opposite MPH(the 2nd floor or MPH). You will normally see a long cue waiting to sit and eat at this shop and I don’t know what it is, every single time I go — it is always filled with people. I notice that the sushi’s they sell are very fine and neat and really fresh. Perhaps it’s in the way they present the sushi’s.

Looking for a place to have buffet with all variety you can find such as Western, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and many more, this place is a go go! I could take endless salmon sashimi, chinese boiled soups, rice with dishes, pasta’s and dishes i never heard before, this is why i love buffet. A variety of sushi, desserts and many more. They have lunch buffet and dinner buffet set and it is all worth it for all this food! However, since it is a buffet with so many range, some food will not taste very nice and the quality taste quite tasteless and cold.
