I’ve never been compelled to write a review good or bad about any restaurant; however, I had to for this place. After taking our order, our waiter disappeared. I had to go to the bar to get another beer and about 10 minutes later, go to the bar again to my wife another glass of wine. About 20 minutes after that we still hadn’t received our appetizer. Our waiter finally showed up and said, «it’s coming»…didn’t apologize or ask if everything was OK. Food finally arrived and it was mediocre at best. I’m always fair with wait staff and try to give them the benefit of the doubt, and I realize this is Mexico and everybody operates at a little slower pace that here in the states, but just act like you want my business and try to be pleasant. Jax didn’t do that. I’ll never go there again!

Terrible service! Asked for my check four times. The delay caused us to miss the ferry back to the mainland.

I only had beers, but wife really enjoyed their version of the French onion soup. Talked for quite some time with Henry(not sure of his role there). It was evident he valued our business! I will be going back in 2 days for nfl football watching.

If you like sports bars, buckets o’ beer, and bar food then Jax is your place. My favorite part is sitting on the deck upstairs overlooking glorious ocean views while I stuff my face with chips and guacamole. What is it about the guacamole and chips in Isla? They are unlike any I’ve had before and I can’t get enough! The portion sizes are generous making this an ideal place to share. One of our favorite dishes to do so with being the nachos. Most of the island offers seafood and authentic Mexican fare, so this is one of the few places with a variety of American meals. Personally, I prefer to eat like the locals do when on vacation, but for the picky eaters in your group this will be their safe haven. The prices are reasonable, the service quick, and did I mention the views? Because they truly are stunning. We come here mostly for drinks and appetizers since the few meals we’ve tried like the BLT were only okay. This won’t be the best food you will have in Mexico, but it is comforting when you want to be reminded of home. They have free wifi too which is an added bonus. I typically have my phone shut off to avoid crazy charges, but for people with better plans than me they will appreciate this :-)

Great place to get fresh pub food and watch the game(any game). Owner is a Texan with the kind of hospitality you go back for! Accommodate us at 10 with a smile. Definitely going back.

I am NOT a fan, but that has more to do with my own needs & expectations of Mexican restaurants in Mexico than Jax itself — they can’t help it, they just do what they do. If you’re from the US and you’re craving to see basketball or football(your football, haha not European ‘soccer’) this is where you can go on the island. Both downstairs as upstairs are several big screen TVs on the walls so wherever you sit — the sports are yours. In addition, if you’re craving a big(American) steak, nachos or burger? While watching your sports? Well, this place will feel like home! The menu is American /Tex-Mex so it would feel like ‘home’ yet probably with a better view. Yes, granted — the upstairs terrace has an amazing view over the sea and the house wines(try the Shiraz) are good! So we just went here for a drink and when we saw the menu… Well, let’s say we wanted to try something more local. Also, the music was quite loud and hmmmm we just didn’t feel the atmosphere. So for me: it would even be less than 3 stars but again, that has more to do with my own ideas of having dinner when on holiday. But someone else might be craaaaaaving for this, so you can decide for yourself.
