I recently was on a cruise ship that had a Manzanillo port call. As we wanted to just hang around the port and not take taxis anywhere we spent the good part of an hour walking around the town directly across from the pier. On this October day it was still incredibly hot &HU-MID, REALLY different than my native San Diego weather. After having beers at a little convenience –type store front that had no food or mixed drinks we pressed on for another place, and ran into Los Candilles(located in the Hotel Colonial)…what a GEM !! As the pictures show, this is an interior courtyard of an old home, adjacent to the hotel. Inside it’s preserved as built over 100 years ago to remain very period-based, classic Mexican architecture and décor. This place was built for the local heat with its THICK walls, high ceilings and fans. Even with no A/C we were very comfortable at our table. The bar is complete with all typical drinks offered you may want… plus of course excellent local beer selection. For all cruise ship tourists: I highly recommend Los Candiles for a great rest & relaxation to soak up local culture. This seems to be a big breakfast place, judging from all the local workers & families finishing theirs when we came in for lunch. Throw in the free Wi-Fi to catch up on your emails and send trip pictures and this establishment offers the full value happy meal :)
