We weren’t sure how things worked when we walked up initially. There were multiple small tables outside with menus on them and a very small indoor space with a few bar stools. But Pedro warmly greeted us in English and helped us decide how to start our mezcal journey in the DF. Their inventory of mezcal is mostly made of their own brand(Alipus), but they have several others as well. We decided to go with a flight(5 mezcals of your choosing for 180 pesos) of the ones made from the same kind of agave but with different flavor profiles. There was an earthquake alarm that interrupted Pedro in the middle of pouring our flight, but he picked right back up after we returned to the bar. He recommended tasting them in the order he poured them from left to right as the flavors went from mildest to strongest. There’s a water dispenser at the bar if you’d like to cleanse your palate between tastings. Or you can order an agua fresca of the day(30 pesos) to serve the same purpose.(We got to enjoy the watermelon with chia seeds, which was refreshing.) We enjoyed the middle three mezcals most, and we were wise enough to have just one flight between the two of us so we wouldn’t need to take a siesta on the sidewalk. We will be back tomorrow for a flight of mezcals from five different states!

I’ve spent ten days traveling through Mexico and eaten some magnificent food. This is some of the best cuisine I’ve EVER consumed. There are so many magnificent places in Mexico but this is really the best. The beers, both light and dark were delicious and carefully chosen(I’ve done a bit of brewing and tend to be picky — I really enjoyed them). The house red was a delight. They also make their own Mescals. The other entrees were superb, a good range of salsas and guacamoles. Right now we’re supping on meme les oaxaqueños, a sort of pita bread covered with mashed beans, chapulines(grasshoppers) and a sprinkle of cheese. Honestly, having attended a wedding at San Miguel de Allende and a range of places in Mexico City and Puerto Escondido, if there was one place I could eat again, it would be here. Superb.
