We stayed at a air bnb next door. It was a super short walk to this place. It was a Thursday night. 6:30 or so. They had football on tv.(NFL) and only 2 other people were there. We ordered the stuffed jalapeños and the guacamole. The jalapeños were mediocre. Not really stuffed. Just deep fried. The guacamole was huge. But not really guacamole. It was dices avocado. Service was really slow. We wanted dinner but it was so slow we left before we even finished the guacamole. Also only 2 choices of beer. And if you love Malibu rum, order a piña colada because it’s basically Malibu and crushed ice.

Owned by an Amercian…(George) this is a nice place. The chef here is the SHIT! REALLY good. The steak was perfect. Yumm! Tried to get George to play some R&B and Hip Hop for the younger women inside… but after a couple songs he changed it back to classic rock. I’ll come back here for the food… but for dancing and bar nightlife… I’ll stick to my other choices. Also came in for breakfast and it was delicious as well… good stuff!

A true gem in a special part of northern Baja… Enjoyed drinks and a live band here once, had fun dancing and being amused by the truly eccentric and entertaining owner who is not shy about hogging the stage sometimes! Live music ranges from Mexican(e.g. cumbia) to North American rock standards.

Staying next door through an Airbnb… View is the same as La Fonda and Poco Cielo: Beautiful! Ordered Pina Coladas: Super good, like a desert, with cinnamon and cherry on top. $ 5 each and better than those at Poco Cielo. Salsa is very good. Chips are well done and not greasy. Meal: Guacamole: Way too big for two people. Very chunky, needed more salsa mixed in and salt. Bit down on TWO of the brown bits that are at the top of the avocados. Yuck. Overall it was good, but I’ve had better, especially for $ 9. Sushi/Sashimi: Big plate of yellowtail sashimi and sushi. The yellowtail sashimi was fresh and plentiful, but was soaking in ponzu sauce! What the heck! That was really too bad because it would have been really good without it. The sushi sucked, because the rice wasn’t done real well, and there was hardly anything wrapped into it. So it was really just rice balls that we were eating. The plate was so big that it filled both of us though. I ended up taking some of the sushi rice and making my own nigiri sushi with the ponzu soaked sashimi. In the end it was good, but I wish the yellowtail was left plain. Serves us right for ordering sushi in Baja… The plate was $ 20. Overall it was a decent place, but if we go back we will be trying something different, like a steak. Although someone mentioned how good the Cowboy steak is, which is 1.5lbs, it’s $ 32 which is a little rich for my blood.

A true hidden gem in Baja, Mexico. George(owner) takes great care of his customers. We were lucky enough to enjoy yellow tail sashimi for lunch that was caught earlier that morning. Came back later that evening for some live music and got down on the best shrimp fajitas I’ve probably had. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Lighthouse.

The view at The Lighthouse is incredible, with nearly panoramic views of the ocean. A great stop during your Baja visit. Be sure to say hello to George, the owner, to get a real feel of Baja hospitality. Great drinks, great location, a must-see roadside stop for lunch, beers and ocean views.

So awhile back, a large section of the Ensenada toll-road collapsed, so I imagine the dude that owns Lighthouse Sports Bar probably built a large, gaudy shrine in homage to Santo Freddy, the patron saint of shitty construction. Why, you ask? Because while the Mex equivalent of Cal-Trans decides how to fix said stretch of broken toll-road, they re-routed it to end into the old road right in front of this joint(the area I believe is called La Fonda) and because of this, the area has undergone a sort of renaissance, if you will. Now in this writer’s humble opinion, this spot is so much better than the spots I’ve recently experienced up the road in Puerto Nuevo, where once-fantastic, now-mediocre lobster restaurants aggressively compete using tattooed ex-pats(read: deported cholos) to hustle patrons to their restaurants… I ain’t got no time for that shit. Our new move now is to duck into LHSB on our way to Ensenada and have a quick bite. At this spot, although parking can be a bitch at peak times, you won’t find the restaurant hustlers(although I’m sure that will change). You will, however, find delicious, fresh ceviche de pescado y camaron, chips and salsa and fresh guacamole with big chunks of avocado, and ice cold adult beverages to enjoy while you sit on the patio overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean… sunset is the perfect time… again, in my humble opinion. Caveat emptor, the service can be a bit slow sometimes, but to that, I say relax and order another beer… it’s worth it. As a matter of fact, as much as I hate to point out, the cost/value ratio here is unbelievably good, so hurry up because I’m pretty sure the prices here will go up before that new stretch of the toll-road does. And as you leave the Lighthouse, if you fall down and chip a tooth, there is also a dentist located right there in the same building… smart sumbitch, that guy.

This was one of my favorite places to go in Baja Mexico. Fantastic oceanside restaurant with a great vegan and vegetarian menu. The bartenders are super friendly and they have karaōke and live music too. It’s also large enough where you can bring the whole family and sit by their indoor fire pit — they didn’t mind the little ones running around and having fun. Watching the sunset from here is a must!

Besides the great food and views, one of the reasons we keep coming back is George, the owner. You’ll find him working hard behind the scenes(or the bar) to ensure his guests have a good time. Choose the downstairs terrace, the patio, the bar or dinning room– all have great views– and in this summer, they had service on the beach! And what goes better with a great view than a great meal? The menu has something for everyone, from burgers and fries to great fish tacos and fajitas. But don’t let the standard fare keep you from trying one of the best steaks in Rosarito, the Cowboy — it is cooked to PERFECTION and comes with delicious garlic bread, baked potato and veggies. I love the tortilla soup, and if the albondiga soup is available, you must try it. George is always looking for fresh quality menu items, and it helps he has a talented chef Antonio, so ask what the specials are. The sushi and sashimi plate was incredible, and you can top it off with apple ice cream. This little gem is a great place for drinks, food and a variety of entertainment. Very relaxed atmosphere, great crowd — you’ll feel like you’re hanging out with friends. ¡Salud!

Great view and great food. Had the shrimp quesadilla last night and it was great. Kids had hamburgers and fries. Run by a cool dude. Good drinks. I’ll be back later for happy hour.
