We use RCI to book a week here at the resort. Coming from Los Angeles we were a little apprehensive at the drive-in to Mexico because while we have been to Rosarito and Ensenada numerous times we’ve never been to the Tecate. The drive down was very pleasant and the roads were pretty good by Mexican standards there was a little construction that we ran into but otherwise the toll roads were really nice upon our arrival at the resort we were warmly greeted by the staff. David at the front desk both excellent English took the time to explain everything to us and made sure that we arrived to our room safely. The room that we have was very nicely appointed with several elegant touches. This was typical of entire resort which was a very pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the dropping meals at the restaurant close breakfast and lunch and dinner the food was typical Mexican but very well executed and their pizza was also very delicious. The buffet style breakfast and lunch was very reasonably priced and you got great value for your money my wife daughter and I have really enjoyed our experience here. We also had dinner here and the food was excellent. We finished with cocktails and two apple martinis, a Cadillac Margarita and a soletera and coke later and I’m down the princely some of 16 bucks before tip! Also 10% discount for rci members! Wow

This place is the best in Tecate, they offered a great service for us. Their restaurant Puerta Norte has an excellent chef, everything he cooks is delicious. On Sunday they have their Brunch Buffet offering: Lechon, Barbacoa, Pozole, Menudo just to name a few of what I loved.

I’ve stayed here several times, brought friends, and all had a relaxing, good time. The hotel is interesting and has a huge spread. The rooms are of a good size and I can’t remember ever having a poor sleep there. Dining was very good also, the traditional Caesar salad made and served by a courteous waiter. Pool area is very relaxing. Although unheated, it is a very refreshing dip. Very interesting variety of lighting fixtures throughout.

Baja is one of my favorite vacation destinations, it’s natural beauty and budget friendly options make it an attractive weekend getaway. This hotel was on the higher end of the price scale and so I expected it to be top quality. However, the hotel is in need of renovations, the furnishings and the room décor are very dated. One of the most important parts of any hotel room is the bed. We had booked a room with a king bed, however we got two smaller beds pushed together to form a larger bed, which is far from an actual king bed. There was a gap in the middle of the bed and it made for uncomfortable sleeping. Worse yet, there was no bottom sheet on the bed, just a top sheet and a comforter. I don’t like using hotel comforters, because they are not cleaned often, but without a bottom sheet, all I was left with was one sheet to lay on and nothing on top. The conditions did not make for a good night sleep. The area has potential, but it has a long way to go. There are many other places in Baja that are a better value. Also, do not leave valuables in your room, if you forget something, don’t plan on getting it back. The housekeeping staff is not to be trusted.
