I stayed at Coco Tulum for a week back in July 2014. The positives: — Cheaper than most other resorts on the beach(we paid $ 90/night for our cabana) — Absolutely amazingly gorgeous beach, steps from every room — This is an eco-resort, aka shared bathrooms and saltwater showers. That said, bathrooms were immaculate and cleaned often — Cabanas have a minimalist look– all white with either deck or balcony, and hammock. — Plenty of lounge and hammock seating on the beach — Free WIFI The negatives: — Rooms and hotel amenities were sparse– I realize this is a budget hotel, but shared showers often lacked soap and shampoo, and rooms had little furniture or storage space — No air-conditioning(fan wasn’t terribly helpful) meant that our room was unbearably stuffy in July — Breakfast was not included and meals at the hotel restaurant(Juanita Daviola, Italian) were expensive and mediocre — Rental bikes were old and rickety, and actually too large for us to be able to use — Front desk staff was less than helpful/friendly at times Overall the experience was mostly positive and the stretch of beach in front of the hotel was amazing, especially for the price. That said, next time, I’d prefer to pay bit more and receive the full benefits of staying at a hotel. Maybe it was the lack of warmth I felt while staying there, or maybe it was that feeling that there could have been a few more amenities for the price we paid, but after leaving, I was slightly dissatisfied with the experience.
