I’ve been sitting outside for more than 45 minutes with a dirty table, and no one has even came to clean it and less likely to take my order. Great service.

Touristic but not too much… very nice and welcoming service. The terrace outside is small but has heaters so you can enjoy some fresh airy also in winter. Central… close to so many other places… but you would choose it because it is in in a nice spot… nice canal on one side and nice pedestrian road on the other (the bar is right at the corner)
Lot of beers and you can get also some bar backs… the usual ones.

When we arrived at our hotel we noticed a small café across the bridge and decided to have a quick coffee break. This quaint bruinhuis, with it’s small hanging Tiffany lights and candles was so inviting, and the staff so friendly, that it became our nightly haunt for a nightcap every evening. It was a short meander to our beds afterwards. I say ‘meander’, because after a few kopstoot (genever with a beer chaser) the distance was doubled as I wandered from side to side LOL. The barstaff served genever in the traditional way, glass on the table and then fill it to the brim with only the meniscus holding the liquid in. I soon learned that the way the Dutch drink it without losing any is to take a sip, not by picking up the glass, but bending forward and sipping the first lipful. Loved that place.

Very cool brown bar with outside seating, and lots of Ami’s like me speaking in English about love, ideas, and life just a short walk from the UvA campus. Cheap prices on beer, and friendly staff who are just straight up nice. Since this is a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist sections full of UK folks getting drunk the tone and feel here is relaxed. Lots of tables in the back and as I said ample outdoor seating and good prices make this a go-​to place for a causal night out in Amsterdam. It has a classic look, and a great vibe.

Went back last night to have some desert with friends. As always, the staff and other clientele were very cool. My brownie, however, was just ok. It had a good flavor, but was dry. Imagine a brownie scone and you’ve got what I ate. The apple taart was scrumptious though. It was served warm and had notes of lemon and cinnamon. Definitely worth ordering again.

Cosy and frequented by locals, which is always a good sign. Friendly service, good beers and tempting looking food. Also a nice lazy cat in attendance.
