Meeting Point Youth Hostel

We stayed in a four-​bed room here, and it was alright. Showers and bathrooms could definitely be cleaner, and they’re pretty cramped. Beds and sheets are fine, and there are lockers in the room although you have to bring your own luck. Very centrally located, just minutes by foot to the Topography of Terror and the mall, and about ten minute walk to Bradenbrug Gate. There’s an are with foosball and pool too, which is nice.

My first stop on my European adventure was Amsterdam! The cheapest place to stay? The Meeting Point Youth Hostel.
It wasn’t exactly clean and it was a tad dingy. For few dollars I was paying for only three nights… it was fine. I learned a valuable lesson at the Meeting Point Youth Hostel: pay the extra few dollars for a smaller room. My first three nights — I spent with 14 other people all at least six years my junior. They were smelly, loud, and melodramatic. I did not get one wink of sleep for three nights and it’s not like I was going to bed before 2 — I was in Amsterdam!
Now some positives: the location was fantastic and interesting all wrapped into one. It was steps away from everything: a short stroll to the canal tours and the shopping district, an easy bike ride to all the museums, and literally steps away from the Red Light District. Another plus? The staff were very friendly and helpful with things to see and do.
If I were 18, I might give this place a few more stars. I was 26 at the time of my European adventure and this place just made me feel old and outdated. The Meeting Point Youth Hostel is definitely ok for a certain age group and not for others. It’s your call on whether to stay here.
