Top notch burger joint. A little on the expensive side and a little smaller than I expected but when it comes to taste and flavor I can honestly say it’s probably one of the best burger restaurants in all of Amsterdam.

Small place in the cut! Burger was good but the fries were the star of the show! They were really good! Staff was very friendly! This will be my first stop next time I’m in Amsterdam!

Great burgers! So big and delicious and have so many types I wanted to try them all! Limited seating, we have to eat outside on a bench, but anyway it was worth it

Burgers are delish — thick beefy burgers that hit your craving if burgers is what you’re in the mood for. Fries and popcorn chicken also are great as sides.
Ive tried their fish and chips as well and it was nice. Highly recommended.

Fresh. Big burgers. Interesting concept.
Kind of a regular hipsterburger-​place. Silence of the lamb was a poor choice. But I really liked the place.
I think it has more to offer. The meat was amazing. The salad was incredible fresh.

Ok, I needed a fix, I am like a junky when it is my turn to order, I salivate, my pupils dilate to the max, I hear that ping in my left ear, I protect the cashier with my life and if anyone els try talking to him I bit.
Yes ladies and gents, the staffs are fun, it is tiny in size, the toilet is a joke but the burgers awwwww make you come back again and again

A great place to grab lunch or dinner. This burger bar makes what is quite possibly the best flame-​grilled burger in Amsterdam. Keep in mind that seating in The Butcher is limited and the place gets extremely busy on weekends.

Hubby and I ate here in 2015 and thought it was really good. I’m pretty sure it was the owner that cooked our burgers that time and they were juicy and very rare. They were so rare that they were practically still moo-​ing.
This time, the experience was much less enjoyable. There was already a group of about 10 people ordering and in the process of ordering when we came in. We were able to order relatively quickly but it took about 30 minutes to get our two burgers and one side of fries. One of the girls in the group that came in before us ordered the fish and chips and we were halfway done eating when she finally got her meal.
There were two guys working at the time and they obviously didn’t work well together. The really tall one was incredibly lazy and kept checking his phone and acting busy at the register while the other guy worked his butt off to fulfill the orders. He couldn’t man the grill, the fryer and the prep station all at once! The really tall guy even left for about 10 minutes while we were waiting for our food, leaving the other one to do everything by himself. Fire the really tall guy. He was terrible and seems to be pissing off the rest of the staff. At the end of it all, our burgers were almost well done, which is not how I like my burgers. Very disappointing experience.

Great burger. The patty was huge and super yummy :) i got the truffle one and we got quite a bit of the truffle. They made it to order so you might have to wait a bit but otherwise a great burger place :)

Solid burger, but I’ve had better. The whole place is kinda pricey but overall. Good food with good vibes from the food hall.

Best burger I’ve had in Europe. Tasty burger sauce, awesome truffle sauce, and great fries. The burger was medium/​medium rare… Service was pretty quick. Price was cheap. € 23 for two cheese burgers and fries w/​dipping sauces. A must stop spot.

Someone help me out. Wife and I came here after reading the rave reviews. As American expats we keep the bar pretty low for burgers, but this is was mind boggling bad. Between the lax hygiene standards, piss poor service, and the slowest burger order ever… skip. We got our burger and were so tired of waiting we stopped asking for our drink and fries. 27 euros for 2 burgers, 2 fries, and 2 drinks. Are you fricken kidding me?!?
Skip. It is mediocre at best (and cold by time you get it) and Amsterdam is full of better eating.

Had a great burger and fries. Place is small and well visited so you may have to be patient or opt for take away. Looks popular for the british stag party crowd, but when i was there they were just beginning their night not quite liquored up yet.
I got the cowboy burger and thought it was great. Burger is served medium rare by default. Food options in the neighborhood are well rounded and i am looking forward to heading back.

How difficult are they to prepare?? over the last couple of years, gourmet burger joints have sprung like mushrooms everywhere, not just in Amsterdam. That creates a competition for the «best burger in town award» which in my opinion is very healthy.
On the other side all this places are very similar to me, they all have great quality ingredients, with the main difference being the approach they have wether is organic, trendy, etc.
The butcher has a peculiarity, they have a not-​so-​secret-​anymore club that is hidden from all customers and you need to know a member in order to get in.
All in all a good burger in a very nice place.

Great big burgers! Medium and pink as a burger should be. Well seasoned. A brioche style bun is always good. Great branding. Loved the popcorn chicken too very tasty and crispy.
I had the Truffle burger. The bottom bun was cold like it had come out of the fridge unfortunately and the burger could have been a bit warmer in general but it was a take away so I could fix that at home. It was very tasty. Good crispy fancy lettuce and fresh tomato.
He had the Benedict burger and loved it. I had food envy. This had hollandaise sauce and an egg in it as well as ham.
We didn’t need to get chips/​fries too and couldn’t finish it.
I would have given them a three without the really good chicken and the five star rating from him as well as their delivery service. They also sent the wrong sauces and the portions were very small. I doubted if the extra sauces we ordered were even sent. I will try their other offerings though either delivered or in-​house.

Well I’m a vegetarian so I don’t really have a say in this, but I came here with 3 non-​veg friends. I ate their fries and they were really, really good. Not too crunchy, quite thick (so yeah natural potatoes).
The burgers actually look good. I mean, the bread is fluffy, the patty was apparently juicy and flavorful.
One odd thing were the pickles: they’re plain, literally. Not salty, not sweet.
The place is also really cool. Theres a fake count at the door thats hung upside down (just like a butchers). If you’re a graphic designer, you will definitely enjoy the interior: clever play of typography and images

Der Burger war geschmacklich sehr gut und wie bestellt schön Medium. Das Fleisch war schön dick, hatte aber einen relativ kleinen Durchmesser, so dass man am Rand uU nur in Brot beißt. Die Pommes haben mir auch sehr gut gefallen. Was mir gar nicht gefallen hat, ist, dass es sich um einen sehr kleinen Imbiss handelt. Es gibt nur einige in den Raum gequetschte Stehtische.
Wer das Klo sucht: erste rechts und sofort gg. die Kachelwand drücken. Die Tür ist verkachelt mit den Kacheln der Wand und hat außen keinen Griff.

The Butcher takes great pride in their burgers, it’s obvious. Each ingredient is carefully selected to make the best burger you’ll find! Wonderful fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and lightly toasted brioche bun.
As well, the chefs do a great job cooking up those delicious Aberdeen beef patties to perfection — perfectly seasoned and seared.
I like that The Butcher used and open kitchen design, and you can sit back and watch them make your burger. It’s a great little spot to take in the action.

And believe me, I’ve tried a lot. Still can’t believe when someone tells me they prefer Bar B or Burger Bar over The Butcher, but hey… it’s all a matter of personal taste, right?
If you like your meat cooked properly (red in the middle and juicy, hell yeaaah!) and it gives you the chills just thinking about the standard «we spilled a whole bottle of black pepper in this meat» seasoning, then this is probably the place for you. No-​fuss burgers with amazing taste, a great size, delicious options, and really good fries on the side.
Yes, seatings are minimal, so you might have to wait or even just grab the burgers and eat somewhere else. If you plan beforehand, you can send them an e-​mail and ask for the password to access a more secluded, private area hidden away inside the restaurant. Never done this though, I’m usually just lucky enough to be there at the right times when seatings are still available, I guess.
I still have to try a couple of other famous burger joints, but I hardly think any of them will take The Butcher’s place in my heart.

I had heard a lot of hype about the Butcher and their burgers so when I finally had the time to try it I was heading there with fairly high expectations. There was clearly this hipster feel to the place but it did at the same time feel welcoming so did not really mind. Being a sucker for good truffle I opted for the truffle burger and was hoping that they would use some good truffle.
The fact that they started making the burger when I ordering and that they asked how I wanted it done was a good sign. After approx 10 kins of waiting I had a delicious looking and truffle smelling burger in front of me. The first bite into it did however reveal a fairly standard tasting burger, not in any way bad but considering the burger trend and the abundance of good burgers that now can be found almost all over Europe this would have more in common with a standard restaurant burger than the best burgers I had.
So nicely designed fast food place that is a bit overpriced and serves up standard burgers — no repeat visits here.

With a great soundtrack going (the Beatles!) we ordered and we served some great burgers. The burgers are actually grilled, as in a real grill with fire. Everything is made to order and although the order of the orders got a little weird, everyone was very happy with their burger. Sean ordered the Cowboy. It was perfectly cooked with a crispy brioche bun and had the perfect amount of delicious toppings. Jessica got a regular cheese burger which had a good texture and flavor, again with the crispy brioche bun. The fries looked good but were a little too salty for our taste, but they still went well with the burgers.
This is a tiny place on the street with the Albert Cuyp Martket. We had a hard time finding it during the market since all the tents were up, but we made an effort so we knew where it was when we went back that evening. At 7:00 p.m. they were finishing cleaning up the street from the market which made it a little difficult to get there and there’s no sign that sticks out so you can see it down the street. You basically just come up on it and see the inside light and then the sign. As long as you know where you are headed, you are good to go. But this street is just dead in the evening! If you can find a seat, great! If you can’t find a seat, they will pack it up for take out (or take away) for you!

Der alsolute Hammer. Hab selten so einen guten Burger gegessen. Der Daddy (250g) vor meinen Augen zubereitet war echt sehr gut. Auch die anderen Burger Varianten sind sehr zu empfehlen. Dazu noch Fritten aus der Tüte schön dick versteht sich. Der Laden ist leider sehr beliebt und wenn man zu falschen Zeit kommt muss man ein wenig Gedult mitbringen.

250 gr de pur Angus beef. Perso, c’est tout ce que je veux savoir.
Par contre il faut aimer la viande bien saignante: ici ils né demandent pas quel type de cuisson on veut.
Endroit assez particulier: cuisine visible avec une équipe de 4 personnes qui n’arrêtent pas de bosser frénétiquement sur fond de musique electro à fond la caisse, murs en faïence style ancienne boucherie et une vache empaillée qui pend à l’entrée du restaurant.
