Beautiful. See all kinds of colors of nature in a breathtaking arrangement. This destination is a must not just for those who love strolling around botanical gardens.

Keukenhof is open from the end of March to the beginning of May, which makes sense when you think about it — since that’s the only time when the tulips are in bloom. The earlier you go, the better, because there will be fewer crowds.
I went during the second week of April, and not all of the tulips were in bloom yet. I would say probably about half, but of course, this varies year to year depending on the weather. Expect to spend a whole day there because there’s a lot to see and a lot of photos to take. There’s also a canal ride you can take for an extra 10 euros, which will take you out to the tulip and hyacinth fields. It lasts about an hour, round trip.
As for food, I’m not sure if you can bring your own food, but if you can, you should definitely do so. Food there is not good and is expensive. A sandwich there (two slices of bread, one slice of meat, one slice of cheese, a piece of lettuce, and a slice of tomato) costs 5 euros. Definitely a rip-​off.
But overall, it’s definitely worth it to go. If you’re not driving there on your own, buy the combination entrance + bus ticket online. It’s cheaper than if you buy it separately, plus you get to skip the HUGE line.

Keukenhof, a nice place to go to when visiting Amsterdam. With roughly 79 acres of land, there are massive displays of tulips and other flowers. Ensure to have several hours to plan for your trip as there is a lot to see. Separated by pavilions, each show case a theme of flowers and makes an easy marker for where you are within the venue. You can become easily lost while looking at the tulips! Keukenhof is only open during the months of March — May so plan accordingly!

Do not buy the Tulip Bulbs at Keukenhof Gardens. Although they will not tell you and you will find Nothing written about this — the tulip bulbs they sell at Keukenhof are considered to be ANNUALS. All other tulips in the world are considered to be perennials. I spent lots of money on the bulbs and got 1 year out of them. The sellers will not even say «I’m sorry». Expensive lesson that you don’t have to learn. DON’T BUY THE TULIP BULBS AT KEUKENHOF.

This was one of the highlights of my trip. I specifically ordered a BMW and did a roadtrip to make sure to be able to finally make it to this wonderful park/​garden. The flowers are amazing, and enjoyable. The park is massive, it took several hours to get through it.
Tons of people all over, so if you dislike crowds you may have an issue.
We got a lot of rain at the end, but it was still fine.

One of the most breathtaking, beautifully manicured spring flower displays you will ever see! We took a tour bus from Amsterdam midweek to visit these spectacular gardens & were given a map and 3 hours to explore. This was plenty of time to see everything. Fortunately we brought our lunch with us and found a nice bench amongst the tulips to enjoy.
The flowers only bloom for 2 months (April & May) so bear in mind it will be extremely crowded during any visit. This is the only reason for my star deduction because the scenery is clearly 5 star. Being elbow to elbow, jostled or stuck behind dozens of wheelchairs and prams repeatedly for 3 hours isn’t pleasant, no matter how extraordinary the scenery is.
Is it a must do? Absolutely — you will never see 7 million blooming flower bulbs anywhere else. Just be mentally prepared for a massive crush of people and wear comfortable shoes.

It’s a very impressive garden. They’re open from March to May. The absolute best time to go in my opinion is late April or early May. I went recently on the first weekend in April and the rhodedendrons and azaelas weren’t even beginning to bloom yet. There also were quite a few tulip beds not yet blooming. Regardless, what was there was still very beautiful. The pavilions are packed with masses if blooms. Last year I went the very last week before they closed. There were plenty of tulip beds already bloomed out but there were still masses upon masses of tulips to enjoy. Also, the azaelas and rhodies in full bloom provide masses of colour. Enjoy! Be forewarned however. There are also masses upon masses of tourists to contend with.

If you only get to see one garden in your entire life this should be the one you see. My only suggestion is to go early and stay late so that you can see it all. Super child friendly with a playground and petting zoo. You’ll take 1000’s of photos of the more then 20 million bulbs that are planted. Take the time to see inside all the pavilions for the amazing floral displays. Simply Amazing!

Keukenhof is one of the world’s largest and most beautiful flower gardens. The garden boasts approximately 7 million flower bulbs over an area of 32 hectares or 79 acres which takes months of preparation. Keukenhof is only open eight weeks a year from March to May. When the tulips and other flowers bloom, depends on the weather. If you are fortunate to have sunny weather, you will be blinded by color and splendor. Spring-​flowering bulbs, orchids, plants, fountains, sculptures, and a windmill are exhibited. Everything is gorgeous! Don’t miss the orchid exhibit! The park can get crowded. Warning… watch out for the selfie sticks!!! Free wifi is available at Keukenhof. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. The park is wheelchair/​electric scooter-​friendly. If the weather is nice and you are booking a tour/​transportation from Amsterdam, do it as soon as possible to get your desired departure time because the tours sell out quickly. If you love nature, love flowers, or just want to get a taste of Dutch traditions you need to visit this place. There’s a lot to see and do for kids and adults alike.
Food: There are several restaurants, snack stands, and cafés here. The fries are amazing!
Shopping: Not all the shops are the same. To buy bulbs and flowers, the best place is right as you exit. If you are traveling with seeds you should talk to the employees about approved items for your country.
Playgrounds: The largest playground has all kinds of stuff for kids to try, including a zip line. But don’t forget to visit the maze and large Nijntje in the park.
Other fun stuff: Boat ride, Windmill climb, checking out water features, checking out flower shows, and walking along the trails.
Definitely worth a visit!

This place is unbelievably beautiful and definitely worth a visit. The park is open only from March to May and if possible, I’d plan my trip to Amsterdam around this time of the year. The park is about 20 miles from Schiphol airport and there’s a public bus that leaves ever 30 mins from the airport and drops you right in front of the park. (No need to get a taxi)
There are more than 7 million flowers (mostly tulips) in this garden and you need at least 6 – 8 hours to walk through the garden and appreciate nature at its best. You can also check out flower shows and buy flowering bulbs, cut flowers, pot plants and shrubs from the local growers.
Entrance fee is 16 euros, but you can save a few $ by buying a combo (bus + park entrance) ticket.

I remember seeing my mom’s travel pictures and there’s one with her on a field of tulips so, I told myself that I’d like to go there someday. That day has come. I took a bus from the city center to Keukenhof. I spent about 2−3hours admiring and taking pictures of all the pretty tulips of different colors, shapes and sizes. They have orchids, carnations and other flowers too.
Tulip growers tend to cut off the flowers since they don’t really have value and suck the nutrients from the entire plant. The bulb is where the money is at.
Come here when all the flowers are in bloom and before they start harvesting the flowers/​bulbs. Otherwise, there won’t be much to see. They have fountains, many different big gardens and an atrium. There are exhibition halls for weddings, parties, shows, etc.
They have gift shops and snack bars. It’s a must-​see.

Keukenhof is absolutely beautiful. Due to the limited amount of time they are open each year, I planned my trip to Amsterdam entirely around these dates to ensure I was able to visit.
This year, the festival’s theme was Van Gogh, and they had his self-​portrait made out of tulips. The park itself is beautiful and still a peaceful place to be despite all the crowds (which are unavoidable given the limited dates you can visit). If you enjoy visiting botanical gardens, you will definitely enjoy Keukenhof. The flower market is also a sight to see and you can get some cool souvenirs other than flowers.
You must visit Keukenhof if you are in Amsterdam. There is a combo ticket for bus+park entrance from the main train station to the park.

A million years ago when I was young, I used Google Earth to look up the Dutch tulip fields as they appeared via satellite. As a kid, I did not think I would have the opportunity to visit a Western European country and run through a field of tulips just for the hell of it. It seemed impractical, really, to observe beauty for it’s own sake but I am doing me so this was my first stop after getting off my flight, buying a combination bus/​park entrance ticket at the airport and dropping my crap at the hotel. After 36 hours awake, I splashed two expressos in my face upon entering the park since short of taping my eyelids open, I did not want to miss a minute of what I thought would never come to pass.
Let me start with the fact that this garden is massive. I walked all the grounds in a 4.5 hour span and I am confident that I did not see all that was offered. Shockingly, the tulip fields are not what you see when you initially enter the park but they are cordoned off at the periphery and protected by a canal, such that the closest you can get to said fields is to take a boat that leaves from a well-​hidden location near a windmill. Despite their English fluency, a few workers could not accurately describe where I could take the boat to reach my destination. Should this happen to you, stay vigilant and press on.
Once I knew where I had to go, I purchased a timed ticket and ate while I waited 45 minutes for the English boat tour to start. Once we lined up and packed in, I immediately noticed that around half of the tulips in the fields had already been harvested for sale and all of the tulips were cared for and picked by hand, such that there was no industrial equipment in sight. To be eye level with an eternal stretch of red, Rembrandt tulips that are not grown in my own country is not something I will soon forget. I kept getting up to take pictures, which was not doing any favors for the 20 person boat but my actions were well worth the potential swim in 8 feet of water as I was seeing the entire reason I was in Holland. That being said, the best views of the fields were from the opposite shore, so I explored around six other visual and photographic angles before I walked away from the fields entirely.
Save for the majesty of the fields, the most remarkable part of this garden is the vast and unique array of monster flora that I have never previously seen, such that some of the tulips species present were around the size of my first or even zebra-​striped. I saw garden employees assemble flowers in an effort to recreate Vincent Van Gogh’s face, massive Venus Fly traps that more than ate their fill and entire wall panels filled with small seasonal flowers and appearing as if a field of flowers had grown vertically on the wall. The beautifully manicured, almost royal bush gardens, modern and classic style fountains and glass atriums holding row after row of expertly assembled flowers that looked photoshopped, reminded me that beauty, even for its own sake, is worth the price. If you are emotionally or financially ready, please visit here from mid-​March to late May as it is a life-​changing sight.

Sam L’s review reminded me that I’d never gotten around to posting a review for this lovely place. I’ve been there twice, of which the second time was exactly five years ago last week. Although Keukenhof is a rather touristic outing, there’s just no denying the beauty and extensiveness of the gardens. Tulips are my very favorite flower, so I was really «in heaven»; Keukenhof has *the* most extensive and most beautiful selection. I also love the statuary & the ponds — and if you can somehow manage to go there when it’s not saturated with people (which was the case the last time because the day started out being overcast), it’s particularly wonderful.
I took public transit both times and had no problems.

Le parc est ouvert 2 mois pendant l’année, lors de la période de floraison.

I visited here on the 19^th April on a tour from Amsterdam, sure I could have probably made my own way down here by bus but the faster and easier option was to do an organised tour. If you have time you can take the train and then shuttle bus or if you are flying in for the gardens you can travel directly from the airport via bus.
It gets quite busy here on the weekend and as per some of the other reviews consider bringing some of your own food as select here is not great and is super expensive compared to other tourist locations in the Netherlands.
I would advise not going to visit too late in the season as they have harvested a lot of the flowers in the fields that surround the gardens. The fields around the gardens are beautiful and part the of the true Keukenhof experience.

We were recommended to go to Keukonhof during our stay in Amsterdam, and we were so glad we went. Combination bus/​entry tickets can be bought from a few tourist offices (about 30 euros). we were also recommended to take our own food which was a great tip — there is not much selection at keukenhof and it is super expensive, so pack a few sandwiches and sit amongst the tulips, and you will be in heaven.
inside the gardens are all the displays of various tulips, really beautiful and elegant, but if you step just outside (on the other side of the windmill) you will find fields and fields of different variations of tulips as far as the eye can see, partly more breathtaking in a way.

It’s like Disney World for anyone who loves nature’s beauty. It is easy to get to, just make your way to Schiphol and hop on a bus. I suggest purchasing tickets online and printing them out so you don’t have to mess with anything when you get there. If you walk out the main door to the buses at Schiphol, just turn left and keep walking until you round a corner (on the right). Then you can’t miss it. BONUS: there’s a Keukenhof sign much like the Iamsterdam sign in from of Schiphol by the buses!
The bus ride is about 30 minutes and they will fill the bus, so you could get stuck standing. Once you arrive, you are at the entrance… no walking quite a ways like for the Zaanse Schans.
My biggest advice is to move through the entrance as quickly as possible. Find a map (or buy one) and get through the initial crowd of people. It’s overwhelming when you first walk in, but they crowded do thin a little bit the farther you get in.
I suggest at least 3 hours to wander. We didn’t even get to see everything at 1.5 hours. We will definitely be back next year will our whole day open to experience the beauty! If you buy your ticket online, you can be flexible when you go… so wait for the good weather!

If you love botanical gardens, flowers, or just long walks amidst cool surroundings, Kuekenhof should not be missed. It’s easy to get to from Amsterdam, and if you are using your Holland Pass, you’ll get a lot of the value of that pass just from your visit here.
I think you can have a great visit in about 2 – 3 hours, or an obsessive one across 5, which would include a nice boat tour or a walk out in the fields. Previous reviewers have given some great details and I won’t add more.

Mit einer Tagesfahrt von Welter’s Reisen habe ich am 05.04.2014 den Keukenhof besucht. Die Fahrt im Reisebus war sehr angenehm, neben dem Fahrer (der Chef persönlich!) war ein älterer Begleiter mit dabei, der freundlich Kaffee und sonstiges servierte.
Erste Station war Scheveningen an der Nordsee, ein Seebad und Teil von Den Haag. Wir waren nur etwas mehr als 1. Stunde dort, aber schön fand ich es dort nicht, etwas heruntergekommen.
Danach Weiterfahrt durch grüné Landschaften zum Keukenhof.
Im Bus konnten wir eine um 1,– € ermäßigte Eintrittskarte kaufen.
Der Keukenhof ist eine sehr auf Tourismus ausgelegte, weitläufige Parkanlage mit herrlichen Bepflanzungen, Seen, Gewächshäusern mit wechselnden Themenschauen und alles ist sehr sauber.
Dazu gibt es Kinderspielplätze, verschiedene Gastronomie und bei meinem Besuch traten Chöre und Folkloregruppen auf.
Ich bin kein Blumenfan, aber es hat mir dort sehr gut gefallen. Wegen der Vielfalt der Bepflanzungen und den sonstigen Angeboten wird es dort, auch für Familien, nicht langweilig.
15, – € sind nicht wenig, lohnen sich aber.
Und die Fa. Welter hat die Fahrt sehr gut organisiert.

Am Parkplatz alles gut organisiert, an der Kasse bei der Info erhielten wir den neuesten Parkführer. Dann vorbei an den Kassen zum Eingang, einscannen der Ausdrucke funktionierte einwandfrei.
Mit dem Lauf der Sonne durch den Park, an der Windmühle dann Karte für die Flüsterboottour gekauft. 45 min an den Feldern vorbei, Erwachsene € 8,00. Das hat sich überhaupt nicht gelohnt.
Anschließend in die Gastronomie von Wilhelm Alexander, Essen fassen.
Pommes Frites € 3,25, Brötchen mit Schinken € 2,25, vegetarische
Frühlingsrolle € 3,95. Anschließend noch ein Eis in der Waffel für € 2,50.
Alles bunt, gut riechend, aber wenn man diese Verkaufsvorstellung der holländischen Zwiebelzüchter einmal gesehen hat, dann reicht es auch, 2015 fahren wir nicht wieder hin.
7 Millionen Frühblüher werden dort gesteckt!

Ja !!! Es war Frühling!!! Und wo kann man ihn am besten erleben, sehen, riechen? Na klar im Keuckenhof auf 32 Hektar Fläche. Dieser Park ist seit über 60 Jahren weltberühmt.
Am Eingang wird man von netten Meisjes in alter Niederländer Tracht empfangen, die Informationsmaterial verkaufen. Der Park ist ein Erlebnis für alle Sinne: Büten, Blumen in allen Farben, Formen (Tulpen, Narzissen und Hyazinthen).
Besonders der schwere, süssliche Geruch den die Hyazinthen verströmten lag wie Parfüm in der Luft. Wirklich was für Nase und Augen. Einfach herrlich.
So weit das Auge blicken kann, sieht es Blumenmeere. Die 14,50 € Eintrittsgeld sind gut angelegt, denn was man sieht ist einfach grandios und überwältigend. Nicht ganz einverstanden bin ich allerdings mit der Parkgebühr, die ich mit 6 € doch total unangemessen finde, wenn ich sehe wieviele Autos hier stehen. (es ist die Wiese in Holland, die tausende Euros täglich erwirtschaftet.) Da mischt sich doch die Frühlingsblüten Luft mit einer grossen Wolke von Abzocke.
Die Leute zahlen Eintritt, spazieren durch die Natur und man besucht auch noch Restaurants und so lässt ein Paar locker mindestens 50 € im Keuckenhof. Da ist diese zusätzliche Parkgebühr nun wirklich nicht angebracht.
Die Geschichte des Keuckenhof übersetzt man so: Es hieß früher Küchengarten. Im 15. Jahrhundert befand sich hier an diesem Ort der Kräutergarten des Landgutes der Jacoba von Bayern. Bereits 1949 fand hier die 1. Blumenschau statt.
Schön anzusehen ist auch der Schlossgarten mit seinen vielen Skulpturen, die hervorragend auch zu dem restaurierten Schloss passen. Das Schloss kann aber nicht besichtigt werden, steht aber Brautpaaren für ihre Trauung zur Verfügung.
