Diese Kirche heisst ursprünglich Elisabeth Kathedraal und ist seit 1968 die Kathedrale des Bistums Rotterdam. Die Pfarrei wurde 1901 gegründet. Da die Einwohnerzahl von Rotterdam ständig wuchs, sollte eine Kirche gebaut werden, die mindestens Platz für 1000 Leute bot. 1904 suchte man einen Architekten. Die Wahl fiel auf P.G. Buskens. Sein Entwurf wurde 1906 genehmigt. Im Jahre 1907 erfolgte die Grundsteinlegung. Am 1. Mai 1908 wurde die Kirche feierlich geweiht. Besonders sehenswert ist die grosse Hauptorgel und die Vierungs Seitentrakt Orgel.
