Back to work this week, which means back to express lunching in the CBD; and when I think express lunch I can’t go past Box of Bird. For those of you familiar with Bird on a Wire in Ponsonby; Box of Bird is there takeaway stall in the city, where they serve a variety of their awesome chicken sandwiches, salads and fresh sodas. Featured below is their Jerk Chicken Sandwich with Tarragon Mayo, which was. The flavour profile was decidedly Jamaican as the name suggests, with the chicken being well seasoned. Not bad for an express lunch, but maybe a little pricey for the size ($ 11).

So Auckland has a hip and happening food scene as it seems. Box of Bird is a cute little set up in a shipping container with super cool staff and food. They offer a bunch of yummy different chicken lunch options. Burgers, salads and sandwiches.
After taking a look at the array of salads on offer, I couldn’t pass I up an opportunity to try them all. I got a range of three salads that was served with some roast chicken. The salads here are seasonal, so you might get something different to what I had. But, I had a noodle salad, lentil salad and burghal salad. All of the salads were fresh and full of flavour. Lot’s of different veggies throughout, tomatoes, onion, greens, carrot, etc… Best part was the dressing was really tasty and pulled everything together. It was sweet and wholesome. The roast chicken served with the salad was juicy and flavoursome. Maybe marinated before roasting?
Love the energy and staff here! So friendly and happy to answer questions. We did not have to wait long for our meals, which was great as we were in a little rush! I didn’t get a change to get some snaps as my phone was almost out of batteries! Dang!

Love the chicken! What a great lunchtime gem this place is. Utterly delicious (and healthy!) salads accompanied by melt in the mouth perfectly cooked chicken.
You can purchase various sized boxes of salad to go, with either a little, a lot, or loads of chicken. The medium size with a little chicken more than fills the spot!
Think I may need to get my order in soon and try a take home chicken. If you get your order in during the day, you can collect your chook on your way past!

Love the latest edition to Bird on a Wire! Box of Bird on Elliot St is beautifully situated in a lovely open space in the heart of the city which makes it a great escape from the office to sit in the sun and eat your breakfast or lunch.
The happy curly haired man who most often works is absolutely dreamy!!! Always up for a lol. The rest of the staff are also super friendly!
Most importantly what keeps me coming back is their beautiful fresh salad selection and rolls for those hungrier days! Am quite the fan of their breakfasts and coffee as a bit of a treat too.
