This is a destination health shop. I frequently walk past here and always pop just to look at all the products . It is a bit expensive but you can guarantee the products are at the top end . Staff are helpful and don’t mind you just looking . There is a bargain table with items that have a dent or just on special. They also sell holistic books and CHOCOLATE !.

Ceres is a really great whole foods store that also stocks a lot of alternative health products such as crystal salt rocks, non-toxic hair dyes as well as lots of dairy and meat replacement products. It’s a small store but it still holds a lot of stock and the people in there know exactly where to find everything. They also have qualified naturopaths, homeopaths and nutritionists in store who are ready to answer any questions. A nutritionist helped me to find certain foods and supplements that can aid me in naturally controlling my asthma as I don’t really like to use medications. I have really noticed a difference, I hardly ever have to use my inhaler anymore and all because I have changed a few things about my diet it’s amazing! I really value the opinions of Ceres staff and thank them for giving up their time to help!

I’ve been a Ceres faithful for a number of years — when I lived out in Howick it was the go-to shop for vegetarian goods, and now that I’m out in Western Springs, I’ll still make sure I head out there from time to time, just to support Ceres and what they’re doing. They’ve expanded over the years(and were recently lucky enough to be picked for Ponsonby Central) but the Ladies Mile store is still going strong, serving the sandal-wearing hippies and conscious hipsters alike. My main picks at Ceres are part of the Ceres Organics brand. I really like their beans and regularly use Ceres Adzuki and Borlotti beans. I’m also a recent convert to cooking with black beans, and Ceres’ canned black beans are a great staple to have in the cupboard. While I do enjoy eating pre-prepared vegetarian meals a lot, I do like having Ceres products at home because they make me want to be a better cook; they make me want to make real whole foods in my kitchen and be conscious of what I eat. So a thanks for years of helping me eat better is definitely in order!

Today was the first time I had been to Ceres even though I have driven past and looked into it a number of times. An organic store with fresh produce, baking needs, snack foods, cleaning products, make up, candles, organic food cookbooks and much more! They have both imported and locally grown products. I was absolutely amazing by all the unique items they had that you wouldn’t usually find at the supermarket, almond peanut butter?! YUM! While here I purchased some kale chips; cashew, carrot and coriander flavoured. Do you know what; it was my first time having kale chips and they weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. I actually really enjoyed them. They were something I’ve always wanted to try, however they are on the expensive side at $ 7 for a little pack, I think that’s a bit overpriced, even being organic. There is on street parking and a little car park 15 metres up the road. If you’re after a healthy alternative, pop in here and see what they have on offer! They even have ice cream!

Whenever I’m in Ellerslie, I love to pop into Ceres and pick up some interesting items that I wouldn’t normally buy at the supermarket. They import a huge range of specialty foods, teas and supplements from all over the world, so there’s always something I haven’t seen before. My favourite part is the sales table — there are bargains to be had on short dated products(they of course don’t ‘expire’ after an arbitrary date so are perfectly fine!!). I stock up on random cereals made from interesting grains and herbal teas and other specialty foods. They also have great natural cosmetics and nutritional supplements.

A few months ago this used to be my local organic products shop and I really miss it, I wish they would open a shop just around the corner from my new house so I could go there every week again. They stock everything from Organic Fruit and Veges, organic dairy — yogurt, milk, cheese, ice-cream, tofu, pulses and dried foods ie beans, rice, lentils etc, drinks, make up and skincare, books, CD’s, vitamins and my favourite Malcolm Harker products. What I really like is that they have the bulk bins of pulses and dried food which are cheaper than the packaged ones, which means some good savings. As well they also have a naturopath in store most days which means you can get free advice on which products to buy rather than just guessing. She can also mix up herbal and homeopathic remedies for you. The staff are super friendly and happy to help if you can’t find something or need advice on something.
