I dropped into Coco Café for the first time today, it was a weekday and I needed a bite to eat — I picked the very large looking spring roll, there was three varieties, I picked the ‘Vege Roll’ for $ 2.80. Although it had been sitting in the ban marie it was still crispy and not dry in the slightest, and so hot I burnt my tongue. The café was filled with a handful of diners eating solo, and all from the ‘grey haired’ age range. I decided to sit in the small alcove part kind-of-outside, it is in the arcade, not the actual café, but Coco have made it part of their venue with a glass wall. Sorry, that was hard to explain. The tables seemed clean enough but the floors were frightful and several«rats with wings», as my ex-New Yorker living friend once called them, were hovering very close by my feet, sometimes even stepping into the café. Brave pingeons. One was the fattest I have ever, ever seen, I took a photo and attached it to this review, the image doesn’t really do the size justice though, seriously it was so big it waddled like a duck! This café had some great décor with unique art and a purple feature wall. The service was friendly, albeit a bit mechanical. Some table and chairs were at the back of the café too if you wanted somewhere more private.

Located in the Pt Chev mall, Coco Café is a pretty small place that — if I’m honest– I only recently became aware of. My first impression was that it wasn’t that appealing. Quite dimly lit, and right beside the Countdown, Coco Café doesn’t exactly say ‘come inside’ to you, but that’s where the negative vibe ends. Once in this establishment you’ll be impressed by the quality of the service and also how friendly the staff are. It was only my first visit but they made me feel as though I was a regular. The cabinet food all looked fantastic –the sandwiches were really full and the ingredients looked very fresh. As well as providing the usual café-style food options, an Asian-fusion menu is also available at Coco Café, and it looked pretty good. Though not the most amazing café I’ve come across, Coco café was clean, friendly, the food looked and smelled delicious and the atmosphere was comfortable and familiar. Not a bad combination, especially on a Saturday morning when you’re in dire need of a cup of tea!
