JUCY RV Rentals

It looks like we’re the only ones who had an awesome experience with Jucy!
At first, I was admittedly turned off by the company name. Jucy? Really?
Along a nearby stretch of road, we popped into a few different rental companies to get an idea for prices and such. No quote came close to Jucy’s since we wanted to drop off the car in Queenstown. We wanted full insurance too.
Our economy car was a Fiat Punto. You won’t be winning any drag races with this thing but considering the distance we drove and fuel economy, we were pretty satisfied.
Sometimes, it’s tough to go with the place with a bunch of negative reviews. In this case, we’re glad we did!
We had a memorable road trip with no issues at all.

SCAM! I wish there was a negative star option. This place may be cheap but it’s a complete and utter scam. I was charged 500 dollars for a dent that was already on the car (and marked in the paperwork they filled out). It’s not actually cheap because they slap you with an unfair fee and then when you go to fight it, it turns o ut the only legal recourse in new Zealand requires that you are there for months at a time for mediation so they know tourists can’t do anything about it. SCAM!

Very poor customer service. Experienced a break down due to failed brakes on my trip and was not issued a refund when promised, entire trip was delayed and never received a call back despite many attempts. The autobody mechanic stated the brakes were not serviced in a long long time. I would look elsewhere. Apollo, Kiwi Express or Wicked may be a better place to look and I would encourage you to do so. The rental company charges less for a reason. Cars aren’t new but function. Staff is more like a check out at a grocery store. We met with misadventure and the response was prompt and had good follow through, espcially since is was a national holiday. Regarding the insurance Jucy offers, even if one has insurance through a credit card benefit, the cost is very reasonable to take Jucy’s Stress Free option, NZ$ 17. First of all, if something happens, they take care of everything, no third party involved, no claim fee. If one elects Risk Taker, Jucy requires a hold of NZ$ 2000 + a 2% surcharge for using a credit card. In restrospect, we should have elected the Stress Free.

The fact that I was not informed that JUCY rentals closed at 5:30pm is my first issue, my flight was delayed 3 hours so by the time I got out of customs it was 5:26 then when I tried to call all I got was an automated service that said if I left my number I would be called back. Needless to say that didn’t happen so finally we got a taxi which ended up costing $ 30 for 5 km because they wouldn’t pick up the phone/​call meback nor was the shuttle I paid for at the airport. Then when we finally got the the rental area I was completely rushed by the employees not really having anytime to go over the contract or review the car properly because it was 5 minutes after «closing time.» When I asked about the $ 30 cab ride I had to take they basically said that it wasn’t their problem. Based on my overall experience I will never use JUCY rentals again nor recommend their services to anyone who is considering using them.

Super Cheap Cars with Bad Customer service
Originally ordered an SUV to drive down the coast with 5 people. Was later contacted by them asking to either have the car longer or change vehicles. We decided to change vehicles and they told us they had a spacious car that held 5. We picked up the car in after hours and were confronted with a tiny car that we could all barely squeeze into. I contacted them, but Jucy is only open between specific hours and there after hours service will only take messages. When they opened in the morning the only thing they could offer us was another small vehicle or a people mover type vehicle that didn’t work with dropping it off at a different location. So we squeezed into the car and off we went. If your looking for a cheap car that rolls and comfort isn’t your concern this is your company. If you looking for a bit more I would highly recommend another company, this company just isn’t worth the hassle.

Having used other camper rentals in New Zealand, we were bitterly disappointed with Jucy — who claim to be the fastest growing and most successful. In the mean time they are forgetting their customers and offering shoddy customer services and campers.
From the start our experience was tainted. The camper was not checked for any damage so we asked to speak to someone, who was incompetent and badly trained. He did not give us any eye contact and could not answer any of our questions. Items were missing form inside the camper (pans, pots) and the layout inside was badly done. It did not maximise storage and we were often having to climb over each other to get to something.
The speakers on the radio were badly blown and clearly not seen to before we departed so we had 2 weeks of tinny music which was very annoying.
Any contact we had with Jucy was badly handled and the lack of customer care was an outrage. Upon giving them a letter of compliant on our hand-​in the faxed it over to HR and promised would reply back to us within 10 days. 9 months later we’re still waiting
