I love High Tea and do fancy myself as bit of a connoisseur so I was delighted to be treated to High Tea with Bubbles at the Stamford Plaza.
It was a rainy day so sitting next to the small gas fire for our table alone was cozy and I enjoyed seeing so many others enjoying their high tea, nestled amongst small groups of people partaking in far more serious business meetings.
I had booked online and requested a table for a certain time, then flowed up with a phone call to confirm, neither of which did I receive a reply to, a little disappointing.
The savoury treats were delicious but the sweets left me a little wanting I’m afraid (see photo of the whole tray). I much preferred the look of the ones already shown here on Unilocal.
I had a decaf coffee which was nice and not bitter but failed to finish the glass of cheap NZ bubbly offered. How strange to have High Tea with Moët yet no Moët on offer, not even the chance to purchase a glass, full bottles only.
Soooo… Overall I think if you are new to high tea you’ll enjoy this one but for me they’ve go a wee way to go before reaching the high standard set in Auckland by the Langham, which still gets my number 1 vote. Sorry Stamford.

If you’re ever spending a night at the Stamford Plaza, then a full on brunch at Knights on Albert is a must. This restaurant caters mostly to hotel guests, but external visitors are more than welcome. For me a hotel breakfast is a treat that will leave its mark on the waistline.
Toast, yoghurt, bacon… oooh bacon, and so much more. Add on an Old English tea and your morning is sorted. I can vouch that your breakfast will be worth every cent, and that you shouldn’t plan to many activities for after… Just a long slow chill out on the couch, or take an early, early nap.

Located on the first floor of the Stamford Plaza Hotel, Knights on Albert Restaurant serves a mouthwatering selection of food.
My boyfriend and I decided to go for dinner at Knights on Albert before heading to the city for a night out. We had a made a reservation for 8.30 and unfortunately arrived at 9.15pm. I expected cold treatment from the host due to our lateness and was half expecting any service at all.
To my surprise when we arrived, the host greeted us warmly and did not roll his eyes, complain or show any annoyance about our lateness. For the duration of our meal he treated us warmly, checked weather the meal was good and if we needed anything. I was extremely impressed!
As for the food, it was fine dinning with appropriate portions. I was surprisingly full after my meal. I recommend the fish of the day or the steak!
