We were the 2nd and 3rd guests to stay at this hotel, opening the day we arrived in Auckland(which was very lucky). There was a dog in the lobby who belonged to the lobby gentleman a massive golden retriever who was absolutely gorgeous. Not quite sure if a dog in a hotel lobby is the look I would give out but that’s just me, a silly aussie. The rooms we were allocated had never been stayed in before, everything was new. So new that the TV wasn’t even plugged in and the toilet paper was still sitting unopened on the toilet seat alongside the toilet cleaning brush. I had to take the plastic off the hair dryer and the radio wasn’t turned on at the wall either. The phone wasn’t plugged in or labelled and there were no hotel brochures in the room yet either. Along with a funny smelling water coming out of my shower… So new that the room cards had not been printed on with a hotel logo, but were blank on both sides. So a lot of potential here, but if they were going to open, they really should have had all this ready. I was happy with the bed, really soft, so comfortable… but I had the temperature on the aircon in my room set to the maximum heat 35 degrees and still the room was cold. The bathroom had no bathtub and was freezing. I know they have a few kinks to work out here, like my telly not working, antenna still sitting there in plastic not plugged in… I couldn’t dial reception because my phone wasn’t working either… Okay so you get the picture. Everything is so new here, it just needs someone to go around to every room to turn on and tune. Other than that, as I said before, potential to be a great 4 stars… just not quite yet.
