Auckland is a great place to own a scooter. So yeah the weather is crap and you’re going to get wet and filthy, but that feeling of superiority as you cruise past regular car-​driving commuters who are stuck in terrible gridlock is hard to beat.
If you want to join this scooter revolution Scootling is an awesome place to start. The guys in there are friendly and patient with the uninitiated. They’ll even give you many basic safety pointers so you don’t kill yourself in the first hour. That’s just good business because a dead customer is hardly a customer at all.
The other thing they can help with is scooter repairs. So whether your scooter needs a service or you’ve crash, survived, but damaged your pride and joy — they can help out, possibly referring to the safety tips mentioned above.
