This is the best Indian on the North Shore and worth a drive or ferry ride. We’ve been coming here for the past 10 years and the food has always been very consistently good. We even had special requests for dishes with curry leaf and mustard seed and they created one happily. One note of warning for all US visitors. Kiwis like a dish called butter chicken and it has sugar in it. I am not a fan of sugared curries so just ask them which dishes have no sugar(if you want) and it will be a good experience.

Service was pretty good and the staff’s are friendly. I question about Authentic Indian as it wasn’t that authentic. All the mains that we have ordered was sweet even though I have asked for medium hot. May be they got it wrong.:)

I’ve only ever had Sigdi takeaway so I can’t comment on their table service but judging by the way they smile and welcome you when you walk through the door and always update you on how far away your meals are… I’d say it would be pretty fantastic. Service aside, their food is delicious and always plentiful. I reckon you could probably feed 4 people on two of their curries. I like their channa masala and I’m always a sucker for chicken tikka masala, which they also do very well. I’ve had another vegetarian curry there once before and it was a little bland and the location isn’t great aesthetically but other than that I really have no complaints, this is a great local Indian place!

This Indian restaurant has been around since I was a young kid and although I don’t remember the food I do recall my mother raving about the Rogan Josh. Well it’s changed owners since then and managed to keep the local clientele happy. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and seems to remain quiet during the week, but come around friday night and its teeming with people, not to mention those coming for takeaways. Only since a decent stint in India myself have I really appreciated the finer intricacies of Indian cuisine and Sigdi nails it. They have a pretty extensive menu, don’t forget to ask for some of their plum sauce which I think comes free with the samosas — its simply amazing!
