Getting anything done at Stephen Marr is a definite luxury for me. I made the mistake of coming here when I first got my student loan coming through and I had money for the first time, because now all I do is think about going back. Mistake is the wrong word, I love Stephen Marr, it’s just supperrrr expensive. I had Lauren Gunn, who I believe is rather far up the ladder at the place, and I’m not surprised. Lauren is so so lovely. She knows her stuff, no doubt about that and was excited when I went in with a rather daring idea. She is a true professional — making me comfortable, chatting away(but not too much), and just generally having a good time. And I absolutely loved the outcome. It was the first time I didn’t want to tie my hair up as soon as I left. In actual fact I nearly had a crash on the way home looking at myself in the rear view mirror. Tea, coffee, and WINE offered, amazing head massages, great magazines, great service and an awesome hair cut. Seriously, the only thing I don’t like about this place is the price. But I suppose they won’t miss me with all those other Aucklanders full of pocket.

This is definitely out of my usual price range for a hairdressers. Way out. And yes, I booked in with a trainee and yes, I got really excited when I saw Bic Runga sway in like leaf blowing in the breeze to get her perfect, perfect hair further perfected. The service was lovely and the atmosphere was lovely and everything about the job they did my hair was great, except that I left with a huge mushy wad of hair dye still in my hair, right at the back, which, as I’d opted to leave with wet hair, I didn’t noitce until I was on my way home. I can’t describe how really painful it is when dye starts eating into your scalp. Ouchies! Fair enough I was with a trainee, but more supervision would have helped.
