This will be a short & sweet review. Because their menu is… Short & Sweeeeeeet . I’ve been here twice, while the guy was parked up at the street food collective. Both times I had chicken and waffles with sticky pork fries. @ $ 12 it is a damn fine smallish feed. The waffle isn’t overly sweet, but is made to order. Both times the chicken was crisp and crunchy while being moist and flavourful. The second visit I had the fried mac n’ cheese balls! Soooo GOOD! Everything you could want. In your deep fried ball of cheese. I’d have both of those again & again and again. I will say this though, the Mac n’ cheese balls could have done with a bit more garlic cream sauce.

The Roaming Dive is the food truck I cross my fingers will be at any event I’m heading to, everything’s great but my all time favourite is the Chicken and Waffles. Now, hear me out, I NEVER thought I would publicly declare my love for such a odd/american-esque combonation in my life. Once you go Cn’W you’ll never look back, or if you do, it’s with regrets of not finding this gem sooner. If you visit the Roaming Dive when they are at The Street Food Collective in Ponsnobby, keep an eye out for a friendly ‘hood cat called Snowflake.

Everything here is good. Seriously try it all ! Great for a bite on the run and nice friendly service too . My one and only gripe is that our fries we ordered tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp a while, but this is not much to get upset about.

I find it hard to turn down a slider and at The Roaming Dive you can get two for 9 bucks. Since there were two options it seemed only right to sample one of each! First up, spicy chicken w shredded ‘berg. The chicken was epic. I’m not sure what marinate they use but it was dark, sticky and damn delicious. For me, green cabbage would’ve been better than iceberg though. The heat of the truck and then the chicken in the bun had made the ‘berg limp. Next we tried the fried haloumi. It was mighty tasty, crunchy on the outside squeaky on the inside. Seriously, how good is haloumi? Red cabbage slaw added a bit of crunch and cut through the salt. The guys working in the truck were lovely. They seemed a bit stressed but I would be too if I was churning out food in such a confined space! Looking forward to seeing where these guys turn up over summer!

The neon blue glow drew me in once again, as the truck was parked on the corner of Queen and Quay. Since I’ve frequented the Roaming Dive, I decided to make a request of Pete. «Can I just have a cup of chicken?» He didn’t even flinch. He even added, «I was thinking you might like something like that», since my previous review mentioned that I don’t eat bread. He asked if I would like something like a salad with the two types of chicken of the day: sweet spicy chicken(which I had previously) and his buffalo chicken. I immediately accepted and took a seat, waiting patiently for the goodness. Annnd it was exactly what I wanted. I hadn’t had buffalo chicken since I left the States, so this was a welcome dinner. Pairing this chicken with his crispy fries were spot on. Making sure the sweet spicy chicken didn’t feel neglected, I had to pace myself and alternate between the two cups of chicken. So delicious, it was everything I wanted on that dreary night.
