It this place was a woman it would be Zooey Deschanel and I would ask it to marry me on the 3rd date, 1950s-style, because when you know, you know, and you gotta lock that shizz DOWN, son. Take it from yer father, he’s a man that knows. I had the pork and veal meatball roll with salsa verde and white anchovy. That says it all really, no need for extraneous hyperbole. But wait, there’s more. We got gruyère tater tots, which were more like deep fried balls of mashed potato but who cares when they taste all up in your mouth with the good times. Wait, wait. You want MORE? Okay. They do their own pickles and sauces. Like picallili, hot sauce, cornichons, mustard. The little jars are lined up on the tables and you just help yourself. Slather them all over your roll or tots, or spoon them into little takeaway tubs to snack on secretly in the office bathrooms later on. All the yes.

Wasn’t really given a great chance to review. I arrived at 4:45pm on a Friday after a 20 km walk eager to try this place out to find after walking through the wide open doors, they’re closed. Their Facebook page, and the info on this Unilocal listing say they’re open till 9pm Friday and Saturday, and 5pm all other days other than closed on Sunday. After showing the staff member it clearly states 9pm on their own Facebook page, her unsympathetic response was«we’ve never been open till 9pm». Might change my review if I feel like ever coming back here of such a terrible first experience.

I love most things that they team behind Scratch do and Weirdough & Tuck is no exception. Their sarnie menu is mouth-watering and those tater tots… well, they’re worth trekking across the bridge for. Buuuuuut where are the vegetarian options? With the exception of the broccoli salad and the tater tots there is literally nothing on the menu that’s vegetarian, which to me is craaaaaazy(esp. being a newly minted vegetarian). Fortunately, my foray into vegetarianism is just a month-long experiment, so cheating ever so slightly doesn’t bother me too much and I was able to order the duck fat jaffle(it’s not **technically** eating meat, I suppose). Said toastie came with aioli and micro greens and I must say was pretty epic. Mind you, it’s hard to go wrong with duck fat, especially when you combine it with truffle and cheese. I will most certainly head back when the month is out but I am hoping there will be at least one vegetarian sammie for my herbivore friends.
