This is a review for the Ponsonby branch. I am a designer hoarder, so going to Workshop is probably a very dangerous place, beautiful pieces by Wang, Jacobs etc. unfortunately I felt extremely unwelcome and judged from the moment I stepped foot in the store. Not ONE of the store assistants said hello or asked if I needed help, not only that, the one girl(with the awfully prominent eyebrows — you can’t miss her) looked me up and down and scrunched her face with disgust. Honey, you work in retail, you are paid to serve. let’s not get that twisted. Great service? Yeah right. Wouldn’t waste my money at Workshop if this is what this company stands for! Absolutely appalled by the lack of welcome by the staff. You have one job, it’s not rocket science.

A couple of years back designer sales assistants changed for the better. The steely glares were replaced with warm smiles and they started to approach you to ask if you needed help, rather than vice versa. Well, it seems Workshop missed the memo. Every time I go there I am always the first person to say hello. If I’m lucky the sales assistant will look up from the computer for a split second to fain a weak smile. Last weekend I spent a good 10 — 15mins browsing the shop, which was empty, and not once did someone come up and ask if I wanted help. When I left, I said thanks and again — no response. It’s a shame because the clothes are beautiful — they have a fantastic mix of international designers(Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Isabel Marant.) — but now with welcoming service in other stores and the accessibility of online shopping, there’s no need to go here!
