Really good for a hotel restaurant! We had dinner here a few times and breakfast every day(included with the room). Breakfast is a pretty comprehensive spread that will suit most people: eggs(scrambled, deviled, boiled), cold cuts, a few kinds of sausage, beans for the Brits, fruit, cereal, yogurt, plenty of bread stuffs, etc. They even have some cakes and champagne is you really want to be decadent. Everything we had was fresh, tasty and regularly replenished. For dinner, it’s a mix of traditional dishes and some lighter offerings. They start you out with fresh bread, homemade pâté and garlic compound butter. Absolutely delicious, especially the pâté! There’s a good wine list and beer prices aren’t too bad. I loved their cream of potato soup which was garnished with crispy bacon. Their pierogies were some of the best I had all week too — well filled, not gummy at all and topped with beautifully carmelized onions. Service is efficient but perhaps not the friendliest. The atmosphere is great — stylish with live jazz many nights. I was happy to have FF as an option, especially on those nights when we were too tired to venture out.

I don’t usually eat at hotel restaurants as I find they generally try to please everyone’s tastes and as a result serve up safe, bland, uninteresting food, but as it was raining when I was heading off for lunch I thought I’d chance the Metropolitan Boutique Hotel’s kitchen. Their restaurant is called Fab Fusion, but I didn’t let that put me off :) The waitress bought me some of their home made bread to start which came with herb butter and a tub of pâté. The bread had an almost cake-like texture and had a scattering of seeds and raisins. Really good. I ordered the potato cream soup with crispy bacon as an entrée. This was lovely; quite delicate but still good flavours. The potato broth was creamy and laced with finely chopped fennel and leek. The bacon was cooked to crispness but not burned. Good start. For main I had linguine with prawns and spinach in a cream and lemon sauce. The original recipe included sun-dried tomatoes but as I’m not a fan I asked them to lose these. The pasta was covered in a layer of thinly sliced Parmesan topped with a sprig of fresh basil. The dominant flavour in the cream sauce was the lemon which went well with the prawns. The spinach was there more to add colour to the dish than flavour I thought, but overall very tasty. Fab Fusion is elegant without going over the top. The red brick walls are decorated with large photographs that look like they came from the pages of a fashion magazine, the floor is pale polished wood, and the furnishings are in muted tones of terracotta and brown. The soundtrack was quite eclectic and ranged from«Big Jet Plane» by Angus and Julia Stone to the old George Geshwin classic«It’s Wonderful». The service was fast but also friendly and laid back — I was wearing a suit as it was quite cool here today, but I would have felt equally comfortable if I’d arrived in shorts and T shirt. A very pleasant dining experience. I may have to re-evaluate my compulsive aversion to hotel restaurants…

Have eaten in this restaurant for the past two nights and enjoyed every mouthful. Delicious traditional and fusion dishes, friendly and attentive service and a nice relaxed atmosphere ensure a pleasant evening. Last night live piano music added to the ambience without dominating the evening. I suspect we will eat here again before we depart Kraków, and why not when you find something this good.

Listen. I have a VERY discerning palate. I know good food when I eat it. Fab Fusion has great food. The homemade bread is a great way to start a meal. And whether or not you put house made garlic butter or chicken liver mousse with red peppercorns on the bread it’s astounding. I started with the white asparagus cream soup with mussels. Perfect balance of flavors. My entrée was the tagliatelle with braised duck. The pasta was perfect, and the duck melted in my mouth. Both are good things. Now I am sitting sipping my espresso and finishing a lavender crème brulé. A perfect ending to a great meal. Take the time and go to Fab Fusion. It is worth it!!!
