Named after the village from Fiddler on the Roof, this place has good genuine eastern European Jewish food. They décor is very interesting, with of course a faux roof and a fiddler, All sorts of soups and appetizers, including a whole page dedicated to herring dishes. I had the roasted duck accompanied by roasted apples and potatoes and a side of steamed mixed vegetables. They serve Tyskie on tap, which is a good Polish beer.

Wow. As an Austrian I am hardly aware of the relevance/influence of the Jewish cuisine for Austrian/Viennese cuisine. It is like my grandmother and mother have resurrected to cook for me. An excellent duck with apples and potatoes, a superb goose soup with mushrooms and onions, a great hering salad and beef in a horseradish sauce. And all of that at affordable prices. It is a dream come true and I have to come back — even if it is just for this Jewish restaurant(by the way there is a second at the new shopping mall Manufactura).

I have visited the resturant twice and each time its been great. The atmosphere and décor is always diverting especially the lady on the violin playing high up on the wall! or the life size model of an old man playing the piano. The food is polish jewish and for me this meant new things to try. Beware the plum vodka which the wonderful owner brings around between courses. Its a great place to understand the warmth and cuisine of poland.
