This is probably a chain in Portugal. The location we went to in Lisbon is in old town near Bairro Alto and Chiado. We stayed in Lisbon for 6 days and frequented this café almost daily as it was 3min walk from our host’s apartment. The interior is spacious, modern and clean. Menu was clear and the staff spoke moderate English. This was our morning stop for cappuccino and bakery. I usually get the sweet cappuccino and hubby would get the Jeronymo cappuccino(which is served with your choice of spice, e.g. cinnamon, chili). The sweet cappuccino has a creamy taste but not overwhelmingly sweet, I really like it. Our five year old son especially loves their hot chocolate. It is thick and full of natural cocoa flavor, kinda like the Spanish hot chocolate we had in Barcelona — the ones you dip churro in. It was not too sweet at all. If I were to compare the sweetness of this to a Starbucks hot chocolate or Swiss hot coco powder, on a scale of 1 – 10, Starbucks is a 9 and this would be a 5 on sweet. Which is why I didn’t mind my son drinking this every morning before we go sightseeing. My son also loves their pastel de nata(Portuguese custard pastry). It is good, but we also visited the Pasties de Belem(original, and hands-down the BEST, 20,000 hot custards sold daily), so this is a few notches down, but still good and we order a couple every morning with our coffee. We tried a few other pastries too, all pretty good and not too sweet. Since I’m not an expert on Portuguese pastry, I can’t judge the quality. For our brief stay in Lisbon, we definitely enjoyed our morning quick grab here. The ambience is chic and comfy. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I took one star off, b/c sometimes they don’t close the pastry shield and we caught a fly in there.
