Really excellent food, in a delightful modern restaurant — a great find. Our whole family of 5 enjoyed lunch enormously — the prawn risotto was especially good. No hesitation about recommending this wonderful spot.

Incredible find, especially in such a touristy area! I had the pumpkin and vegetable soup, the magret of duck, and the nutella gâteau. My boyfriend had the veal carpaccio, a tenderloin with mushroom sauce, and the apple crumble. We shared everything, so I can honestly say that it was all good. The carpaccio was my favorite, and the duck was lovely too! The only disappointment was the soup, which was pleasant but could have used more seasoning. The crumble was one of the best apple desserts I’ve had in 4 months in Europe, including Paris, and the nutella gâteau was incredibly moist and delightful. Best part? A giant plate of carpaccio was only 6.50, duck was about 14 euros, dessert was only 4! An amazing deal for amazing food. Added to two liters of mineral water, bread with tapenade and herb butter as a cover charge, and it was exactly 30 euros per person. If you’re used to American service, you’ll probably find service slow, but it’s pretty typical for Europe. Our waitress was polite and spoke good English. Overall, a great experience.

We tried for 2 nights to get in here but it was full both times. The second time we decided to wait for 30 minutes for a table and were really glad we did. In an area with SOMANY tourist restaurants, this place was a great find. Here you will not find people standing outside trying to get you to come in, they don’t have to. The food and wine was good. We had a three course dinner and were very satisfied with all three courses. One not so good point though was that 2 things we tried to order from the menu were not available, but the alternatives that we ended up picking were good. I had the octopus carpaccio, the duck, and a orange ginger crème brûlée. Try to make a reservation if you can, it will be worth it.

Really good, perfectly judged food. I had seafood but a friend of mine had amongst the best steaks he has had. Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff too.

Vale a pena experimentarem.

As always, on the last night of our trip, we had to have that one great meal. Before I realized Unilocal was up and running, I searched places on Tripadvisor. Oito Dezoito was one of the places. I would consider this casual upscale dining. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the staff speaks very good English. I ordered a bottle of wine from the Douro region and it was unique and pleasant. Again, the couvert is not complimentary and they charged 2E per person. I ordered the mushroom risotto to start and the partner had the house salad. Both were fresh and flavorful! For dinner I wanted their signature Bitique steak, but it wasn’t available and I had the tenderloin with a tasty cheese sauce, pureed cream spinach, and these wonderful mash potato puffs. The partner had the cream of legumes with pumpkin. Overall, the food and presentation was great! I said I wasn’t going to order dessert, but I had a little wine left so I thought what the heck. However, the crème brûlée and the traditional Portuguese egg cake with plum ice cream were not available. That was a shame because everything was going well. I couldn’t understand why they would be out of some dishes since it was the day after New Year’s. Those issues aside, it was a very enjoyable meal. I would definitely recommend Oito but would ask at the beginning if they are out of anything first, and I hope it was just this particular day. The service was great! Water and wine were replenished. One of the interesting things is that they didn’t leave the bottles on the table. They were placed on the bar but with a system that identified which went with which table. Again, a very enjoyable meal!

E tudo isto no coração do chiado.
