TAP

This is the airline from hell — and I have seen my share of bad airlines. I will avoid these guys going forward because their customer service is dire. So here goes:
I was travelling with a friend and she was booked in business class and I was in economy (why? Long story. I won’t bore you with that). I tried to purchase an upgrade so we would travel together — no success. They have a bid system to request an upgrade and by the time I knew that the bid was unsuccessful it was too late. No other option was offered to acquire an upgrade, let alone a little sympathy for our desire to be seated together. Finally, the miserable guy at the business class check in desk disappeared for 5 minutes without a word and came back with two boarding passes with seats in Economy. He failed to mention that all other perks had been revoked as well, so when we tried to get into the lounge, access was denied. I guess the miles credited will also be based on an Eco fare. The guys in the lounge were also less than helpful, all they offered was that I can talk to TAP if I have a problem.
What else: tight seats, lousy food, very limited drink options and unfriendly board service.
TAP, never again. Or as Cartman from South Park would say: Screw you guys, I’m going home.

Flew TAP on a flight within Europe. Didn’t think it was a bad experience at all. Staff was friendly. Had a snack and drinks on the flight. Plane was clean. I would fly again.
Note: The lounge in Lisbon is nothing to write home about if you are thinking about using that facility.

Our plane was taken out of service, they got us off on another one very quickly. I think it took them about half the time it would have taken any US carrier.

Une super compagnie niveau service a bord de l avion.
En effet on a pris l avion le midi on a eu un repas complet (moi qui avait amené un sandwich, j ai été de la revue) et au retour le matin et notre petit déjeuner tout chaud. Trop trop bien.
Sièges confortables et hôtesses qui parlent plusieurs langues. Parfait.
Au retour dommage on a eu un peu de retard vite rattrapé par le commandant.
Petit détail assez bizarre a l’aller on a imprimé nos billets et a aucun moment on nous a demandé notre carte d’identité et au retour on avait nos cartes d’embarquement sur le portable et la on nous demande notre carte d’identité. Bizarre bizarre .
Si je dois retourner au Portugal je reprend cette compagnie sans hésiter.

This airport lounge sucks (_​x_​) big time. Yes, that an ass. Shower facility is so tiny and dirty. Food is terrible. Space is tight that you can’t sit comfortably. Except for the cute receptionist, there was nothing that could generate any positive customer experience… TERRIBLE!

I used TAP for my flight from Valencia to Lisboa and from Lisboa to Newark.
Overall it was a decent experience.
Price was decent especially for my Intra European Flight. A free check bag and even free drink service and a snack on my flight.
For my flight to Newark, I even able to reserve an aisle bulkhead seat without special status or extra fees. Just love the legroom!
Planes though were a little old and need some maintenance.
Will I fly TAP again?
Yes, certainly as long as the price is right!

TAP are not the worse airline I have flown with, but are certainly below average. This is my first experience and I would only fly them again if I had no choice.

We had so many options when trying to find a flight from Lisboa to London. Reading some of the reviews of the ‘cheap’ airlines and hearing the horror stories of luggage limitations my sister in law was dealing with to get to London from Dublin, I wasn’t really comfortable with going with the cheaper flight since we were on a tight agenda once we landed.
I can’t really complain about TAP, but I can’t really exclaim about anything either. My only frustration was when we were descending they had said something over the PA about not needing a landing card if you weren’t an EU citizen. Maybe the flight attendant we confirmed with didn’t realize we were staying in London for a few days, but she was incorrect. We did in fact need a landing card.
So my only advice — regardless if you’re passing through or stopping for a few days — is fill out the card anyway. Even if you don’t end up needing it you can always tear it up later.

A Tap é a primeira companhia em que penso quando viajo e na qual procuro viajar. Em primeiro lugar por ser Portuguesa e depois porque continua a ser considerada uma das mais seguras. Mas (porque há sempre um «mas») esta companhia tem um grande problema… Os atrasos e cancelamentos, quase tão normais como beber água! Já por diversas vezes os voos em que viajei atrasaram. Da última vez, o meu voo Praga-​Lisboa atrasou duas horas e quando partimos avisaram-​nos que não havia tripulação suficiente para servir refeições, pelo que ficámos sem «jantar». E como esta, outras tantas situações incómodas e recorrentes que nos levam a pensar, se vale a pena pagar caro para viajar com a TAP e correr sempre o risco de haver algum «imprevisto»!
