After walking around Old San Juan we decided to rest our legs and stopped into Marilyn’s. This is a tiny(maybe 12 bar stools?) place but it more than makes up for its size in its character. The bar is all about Marilyn Monroe, which pictures of her everywhere. We had quite possibly the best mojito’s we’ve ever tried, large, strong, and not too sweet. Fellow patrons were fun to chat with, they have a great sound system and play old concerts, and Toba the bar car can’t be missed. A+

We were drawn to this place by the coolest live musicians jamming out front. That was a huge bonus! Inside is an omage to Marilyn Monroe. Tasteful and sexy. Full bar and friendly people. There is a big flat screen tv. There is a shady spot to sit outside. It was a delightful reprieve from the heat to sit with an ice cold beer and enjoy awesome live music in the mid afternoon.

Reviews are true! Mojito is the best I’ve ever had! Now back in the states I have you make my own because I can’t get a good one that compares to this one out anywhere. Chill out and relax. The staff are friendly and easy going. Food was yummi too!

Based on some suggestions, we stopped here for Mojitos on our way to dinner down the street. The drinks were tall and I have to say, they were indeed the best Mojito I have had the pleasure to try. Strong, delicious, and refreshing — a pretty tough combo to beat. We enjoyed ours outside at a table and really appreciated the shade and the breeze blowing down the street. A winner of a spot.

Pretty good mojitos, decent food if you are just looking for something to eat. Cat was cool and had some funny stories.

It would be absolutely impossible for me to recommend this place more. The drinks, especially the Classic Mojito, are simply amazing and made with fresh ingredients right in front of you. The ambiance is truly a taste of San Juan without being watered down with tourists. Yet the best aspect of this bar is the way that my wife and I were truly made to feel like family. We come to Marilyn’s Place every New Year’s and the owner and his wife recognize us every year with welcome arms which means a great deal to us in today’s world. Be sure to pet the bar cat, Tabo, he loves a solid lap to lay in while you enjoy your drink. Truly one of our favorite spots in our world traveling.

Im giving this place a 3 star as the mojitos are good but OMG, the mint leaves were muddled toooo much, and smoke, smoke and more smoke with only smokers sitting out there, if you sit outside not able to enjoy the outside ambience at all. only 2 workers on a saturday and they are NOT friendly or inviting at all. would i come back!!! NOOOOOO…

Lovely hole in the wall bar! Didn’t order food, however since everyone raves about the mojitos why not try it. Love the outdoor seating, the bartender was very friendly and the mojitos are def great!

You know the phrase«I wouldn’t pee on you if you were on fire?» If I were you I wouldn’t pee in this place if my eyeballs were floating. I made that mistake. There was no toilet paper in the fly ridden bathroom; no paper towels in the dispenser, and kind of gruff service that was absent for a great portion of our half hour visit. Mexican? We weren’t offered a menu, if they even have one, but after no paper products present, I didn’t even want to find out how they are cooking back there. Maybe during the day it’s a vibrant street café, but the only thing in the evening is a bar that might be located under the stairs in another building. I mean you’re in San Juan, you know most people are going to be new to the joint. You could at least act a little welcoming.

Came in here for a brief respite from the heat; the man behind the bar seemed pretty disinterested in us, but not in a mean way. I just had some Medalla, while my wife had a fresh guava drink that turned out to be hugely strong. The fruit definitely masked it, so it wasn’t a «all you taste is booze,» but rather a «I don’t think you’ll need a second one!» Other than that, a nice, quiet place to relax for a bit away from the sun.

This review is for the Mojitos. We did not order food. Marilyn’s Place is a small hole in the wall with nice outdoor shaded seating. We have been sampling Mojitos from various places in Old San Juan, and these are the best yet!

Just stopped in for a drink before heading to dinner. Cute spot not very crowded. Great sangria and reasonably priced.

Wonderful sangrias, and great tacos. The outside seating is so peaceful, and noone feels like they’re hurrying you out of the restaurant. I had a delightful afternoon here today!

They were closing but bartender let us get drinks anyways. This was the best mojito I’ve ever had. It could have been slightly colder but the mixture was absolutely perfect. Didn’t think anyone could beat my place back home but this place did it. The sangria was good too but why order anything else when you can get the perfect mojito here. They serve food but we didn’t get to see what was on the menu given the hour.

Stopped in here several times for a refreshing beverage… and to get some lovin’ from the resident Gato, Tabo. The mojito and caprihana are wonderful and freshly made upon ordering. You can’t get any better!

Ran into this place randomly. The bar maid was very friendly and offered us advice on directions after we ate. Good, fast service. We ordered mojitos, queso and chips, and chicken tacos. The drinks are very strong and the queso had tomato in it, I thought it was unique and tasty. The patio is also very nice and relaxing. Id go back.

Don’t be mistaken, this is a dive bar. Not everyone will like it. It’s off the beaten path in Old San Juan near La Fortaleza. The bar is an homage to Marilyn Monroe and there are several pictures of her spread across the inside. However, you won’t want to hang out inside, you’ll want to take advantage of their nice outdoor seating on this narrow street. Come for the Mojitos! If you come on the right day, you may be the only patrons at this very laid back establishment.

Family owned classic drink and snack spot on Av San Fancisco in Old San Juan. We come here every visit at least once. Excellent sangria and perhaps the best mojito in VSJ. Be sure to say hello to Tabo the cat, he is very friendly and likes to take pictures.
