I visited Puerto Rico and took this Catamaran Tour on the Barefoot Tour Boat. Benjamin was our shuttle driver that transported us to the dock from Old San Juan area. He was entertaining, fun and knowledgeable about the island. The crew members Robert, Javier, Jalexia and another crew member made the day so delightful. I enjoyed the two places we visited on the tour. Plus, the beach time was so relaxing, fun and enjoyable. it was a beautiful day and the water was just right. The meal was nice with freshly prepared food and the service was great. I especially enjoyed how Captain Robert created a hand cut platter of fresh fruit for an afternoon snack before we returned to the dock. I am so glad I was able to take this tour and have a happy memory. I hope I can return sometime in the future to do this tour again. This was one of my favorite activities during my vacation.

We booked a snorkling and picnic trip with them and it was the highlight of our San Juan trip! The crew on the boat was absolutely awesome and made our trip special. They sincerely wanted us to have a good time and you could tell they were having a good time as well. Highly suggest!!!

The highlight of our trip to Puerto Rico was the Caya Icacos Catamaran Tour. The tour goes out on a Tom’s Barefoot Tour Boat (very familiar with them from my trips to Hawaii). The cost of the entire day is so amazingly affordable– I just couldn’t believe that the price included transportation to/​from my hotel, the catamaran with 3 staff, snorkel gear (that was clean and in good condition) lunch and endless rum drinks! Caya Icacos is gorgeous. We stopped at the beach and snorkeled off the coast first– saw some small schools of fish and minimal flat coral, then walked the beautiful beach and took some amazing photos of the pristine blue water contrasting against the sand. The one negative is that you’re not allowed to explore the trails because the men working the boat can’t keep track of you – they actually take your shoes in the beginning to make sure you don’t go off too far: P. There are some tidepools near where the boats stop that are cool to explore. We got back on the boat and had lunch and then moved to a different location where we saw 2 dolphins! There were large schools of tropical fish and many more kinds of coral and organisms in this location. When we got back on the boat there was a gorgeous fruit plate waiting for us and of course more drinks. We enjoyed spending some time on the bow of the catamaran as we leisurely made our way back to the mainland. It was a perfect day with no clouds and little wind. I’ll always remember it! If you decide to take this tour please tip the guys generously– someone else said this on Unilocal and I understand why now… they work super hard and have such a positive attitude!
Some of you may be trying to decide whether to go to Icacos or Culebra. Icacos is only 45min drive followed by 45 min boat ride from San Juan. Culebra is much further away and is more expensive. In my mind it makes less sense to go there unless you plan to stay for more than 1 day.

Let me start off by saying this was the highlight of my vacation. I’ve never experienced anything like this at all. We started our day in the best way possible, The Transportation. Wow! Benjamin had the best energy early in the morning, had a great sense of humor and very helpful as far as recommendations. Not to mention beyond ATTRACTIVE, was a little disapointed he didnt join us on this adventure but it’s a good thing he didn’t it would have been too distracting. Lol Anyway, we went to a beautiful Island and and spent the whole day snorkeling, sun bathing and drinking. The whole staff was very amusing. I would definitely come back for this exact experience as long as I get the same driver. ;)

This is an awesome deal for an unforgettable experience. My girlfriend and I were in Puerto Rico for a week and this was the best excursion we took! The snorkeling is amazing and beautiful. They even gave us bread so the fish were eating out of our hands!

Went on the camuy river caverns tour. I was surprised to realize that the cost of the «tour» did not include admission to the caves or lunch. So basically, we paid for someone to drive us to the caves. Lunch was terrible but at least it was cheap. I’m giving 2 stars because our driver, Ricardo, was great. But overall, it felt like a massive waste of money. Spend half the amount to rent a car and go on your own!

I went on 2 tours (Rio Camuy Caves & Arecibo Observatory, and Yunque Rainforest) with 2 tour guides Tony and Victor. These were my favorite days of the trip. A lot of Puerto Rico can be like Disney World where people treat you the way they think you want to be treated. On these trips, I finally got a deeper glimpse into a more authentic Puerto Rico. The tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly, personable (can’t say enough good things about Tony and Victor), and the sights were fantastic.
A little pricey, but go for it. I was very happy with my choice here.

Amazing !!! Highly recommend to do the catamaran /​snorkeling and lunch tour. The crew were very nice… they let you have plenty of time for both spots that we stopped at… one mostly for snorkeling and the other for swimming, snorkelng and jumping off boat… lunch was nice and plenty for everyone… sandwiches, salad, chips, and fruit… we enjoyed the day!!!

Was just on vacation in PR and took a tour for snorkling n picnic. Hands down GREAT STAFF!!! Frances, Luis, Freddy, Capt. Jose

This was a great day trip. The staff was very nice, funny and helpful. They made sure we knew what we were doing and would answer our questions. The ride was relaxing and they made sure we had enough to drink and eat. The picnic lunch was surprisingly great. The whole trip was set-​up perfectly to allow is the chance to practice and get comfortable with snorkeling prior to going to the big coral reef to snorkel. We saw very few fish at the practice site, but at the coral reef there were tons of fish to see. All different kinds. I would recommend this trip to someone who is a beginner snorkeler and who wants a relaxing day on the water.

Captain Robert and crew were top notch. Great way to spend our first day on the island.

Was in Puerto Rico in October 2014 and went on a catamaran trip… Great way to spend about 100 bucks per person! Eight hour trip with lunch and drinks included! They also picked us up from the hotel on a shuttle-​took about an hour to get to the boat after picking up others. Wish I would have brought a waterproof camera. Staff was so fun! Played music and got everyone dancing and having a great time. Snorkeling was one of the coolest things I have ever done, unlike some of the other reviews, I found the first stop helpful with getting comfortable snorkeling as it was my first time. When you go to the second stop it was a little intimidating just jumping into the ocean but it ended up being fine! When I go back to Puerto Rico I will for site do this again!

The crew on our snorkeling trip on the Barefoot IV catamaran couldn’t have been better! They were so fun and bubbly and did everything in their power to make our trip wonderful. The lunch and fruit Francis prepared was beautiful and she, in particular, was really funny and sweet, setting the tone for total enjoyment.
The snorkeling, itself was nice, with abundant fish, but we were a bit disappointed with the amount of live coral (probably 80−90% dead) and the limited number of species we saw (perhaps 8 – 10).
If you’ve ever snorkeled off of small islands, you’d probably feel this way, but otherwise, there were plenty of fish to see and the water clarity was great!
All in all, the crew on this tour made me give a 4 star review, despite any negatives.

We did the Catamaran trip — sailing, snorkeling, and lunch. It’s all day. When you arrive they hand you your snorkeling gear. Then you get on the boat. Get to the front of the line so you can get the seat you want. They offer some pretty delicious drinks on board. The first stop was to a beach. If you have no snorkeling experience, they will give you a quick lesson. Then you get back on the boat for lunch which includes lunch meat or tuna sandwiches. Later they offer you a platter of fruit, which I enjoyed more. You head out for some real deal snorkeling which was cool. I stayed near the boat and held onto a rope. It really was a beautiful sight. After a good 5 minutes I hopped back on the boat. All in all I would say this was a nice day off the resort. Would I do it again? No. Do I regret going? No. The staff is very kind and a good thing to try once. If you are on a tight budget, $ 95 (which included transportation) would be better off spent elsewhere.

We used Castillo recently for an event we held for our clients and they were fantastic! Very professional and knowledgeable staff. The highlight was our catamaran tour on Barefoot. The staff on the boat was great — they provided a fun and safe atmosphere, prepared lunch, served drinks and played great music. The first stop was a beach on a remote island then we went to a reef for some snorkeling. Finally sails up and back to the dock. The trip was so nice no one wanted to get off the catamaran! We had them take other folks to the rain forest on two occasions and heard great things and I also did a kayaking/​snorkeling trip — another great day on the water. Our guide was a marine biologist and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend Castillo for you personal vacation or company event.

Just went on the Barefoot IV… Had an amazing time. We hit two snorkeling spots and the crew was amazing. Frances was super helpful and super funny. We will definitely be back the next time we are here. I posted this in July, but for some reason it didn’t post… so posting it again.

Went on the snorkeling tour on the barefoot.
The first stop was boring. First we had to waddle our way onto the beach, walk a quarter of a mile down the beach (climbing up and down 3 foot sand steps) to get to the coral area. There was NOTHING to see except rock hard brown coral. There were no fish. People from another tour boat said they saw only 3 tiny fish. So first stop was a waste of energy in my opinion. Then the crew prepared lunch. Bunch of costco meat and cheese and some canned vegetables and canned chicken with mayo in it. The only thing made fresh there was the coleslaw which I did like. Our second stop was in the middle of the ocean. There were colorful fish and coral here. This stop was very nice. My boyfriend and a few other guests got stung by jellyfish. I myself swam by a huge jelly fish with a pink ring that was a bit bigger than a basketball. Then there was some fruit served. The staff was friendly and excellent. They were always willing to pour you another drink (punch, piña colada, sprite/​coke, rum).

Luis picked us up on time. He was nice, friendly, and professional on the bus ride to Catamaran «Barefoot». I enjoyed the day, staff was great, and to top off it was a birthday celebration to Captain & Jelitza the bartender :) (yes drinking some Don Q Puerto Rican Rum)!! I had Piña Coladas yummy on way to snorkel site. I recommend

It was our first time in Puerto Rico and we went horseback riding and on the catamaran trip.
The horseback riding was really fun! It was my first time riding a horse and the staff showed my to how handle the animal. The horses looked healthy and strong and the paths we were taken on were pretty cool. Very nice views!
It was also my first time snorkeling and it proved to be a great experience. There is a member of the crew who showed us how to wear the mask, breathe, etc. and was available for any questions.
Frances and the rest of the crew were awesome as well! They provided us with sandwiches, drinks and fruit.
The boat and the islands we went to were beautiful. We saw coral and many fish.
*My only grievance I had with Castillo tours is that they said it was $ 95 per person for the catamaran trip but charged us $ 110 per person. They said it included a $ 15 deposit for the trip but we paid that on a separate bill.

My friend and I wanted a relaxing excursion, and the Luquillo beach and snorkel fit the bill. Castillo has everything down to a science, and we had no complaints. We were picked at our Condado hotel, and took and air conditioned ride to the dock.
Our first stop was at a shallow area of luquillo beach. This was a chance to get in the water, and get our snorkeling down for our coral reef adventure coming up next. I was really enjoying exploring the area, when I bumped into some jellyfish, and snorkeled away quickly. I was relieved to hear that PR variety of the jellyfish are harmless.
We next had had lunch, complete with unlimited drinks and then we were off to the coral reef. We had an hour to explore, and I saw some amazing fish and coral. It was an unforgettable day, and I have Castillo to thank.
