First let me say that my visit was part of the best day ever. We went fishing and caught lots of fish, next we had them cleaned at the local fish market and then headed to El Yates where we met Jolene the owner. She is super nice as everyone is on the island. El Yates is super local, lots of fishermen from the market, people in town and family of Jolene’s. We asked if she would prepare the fish we caught and she said«yes». She asked that we get sides and stuff to offset the cost and that was no problem. We got areas, beer, and two sides and it was like $ 20. We left a $ 20 tip as she made the best whole fish I have ever had. It was marinaded in a delicious lemon juice and peppers. She made the grouper and snapper perfectly. I can say that this place is the most authentic cuisine we are on island and her fish is always fresh as her restaurant is across the street from the fish market and near the ferry terminal. For the few nay Sayers on here talking about el Yates not being good, just get the local cuisine. Seafood and you will be very impressed. Thank you as el Yates made dinner on my best day ever!

My husband is Rican and loved their pork chops. I. had grilled chicken… thank goodness it wasnt laced in Adobo. The cooks like to go easy on it due to it being salty. It was very good. Great atmosphere with all the locals hanging out and Spanish music playing. Great view of the harbor while eating.

If you go here, avoid going when the ferry is in. It was hard to detect the rum in the rum punch, so maybe stick with a beer when the place is flooded with tourists. Service was friendly, we recommend eating in the bar — it has a bit more atmosphere than the dining room. Our reviews on food were kind of divided. Stick with the traditional Puerto Rican dishes — it’s what they do best!

Nice lunch(4 stars) Our first day in Vieques and our attendant at the Inn reommended this place. A quick walk and we were there in about 10 minutes. We got beer and watched the people disembark the ferry. We got octopus salad with fries, and Conch with sweet plantains. Lady was friendly and service was quick. Price was right.

By far the WORST meal I had in ALL of Puerto Rico last week. This«restaurant»(if you could even call it that) is located right off the Fajardo-Vieques ferry terminal, which is the ONLY reason that we came to it before the return ferry back to PR mainland. Let’s get this out of the way… here is everything terrible about this place in bulleted formats: –no design, generic, plastic, dirty environment –FREEZERS where the guests dine(the protein is all sitting in here and the chef emerges from the dirty @$$ kitchen to grab & go back in) –service is atrocious. the«waitress» never came around & constantly got mad at us for asking questions/requesting unique/special orders. it took FOREVER to get our bill –FOODISAWFUL. FROZEN meat. The chicken all tasted like rubber. the pork chops were overly salty, MSG-filled, the salad was from a $ 1 bag from the grocery store. the cheese was cheap and stale. AWFUL. –Pina Coladas«with rum» for $ 6 had barely ANY rum… but tasted OK. –sweet plantains were DELICIOUS… quite possibly their saving grace There’s also a bar in front, which looked like fun… you can’t mess up a Cuba Libre. If you’re EVER in this area. JUSTCOMEFORDRINKS… and sweet plantains… lol

We wandered in during ferry time: tons of people rushing to get their meals before the ferry came. The service was a bit slow, even after the ferry rush, but the waitress(who may have been the owner) was extremely nice, and chatted away with us. Drinks: we ordered two piña coladas. Nothing great, think they were a mix, no fruit garnish. Meal: Conch salad(great conch, a bit heavy on the oil), rice and beans(great!) fresh catch of the day(deep fried grouper was good!) and sweet plantains. All in all, a pleasant meal, local flavor & scene(no ambiance) and extremely friendly staff.

I was extremely disappointed in this place, mostly for the horrific service. We were in there for 20 minutes before we were acknowledged by the waitstaff. We ordered drinks and food, and it took another 20 minutes for the drinks to come out. Meanwhile, an annoying group of teenagers blasting a boom box were served drinks and food within minutes. The waitress come to check on them several times but seemed to not realize we existed. When I went up to the bar to pay the bill, she seemed appalled that I would bother her at the bar and not wait for her at our table. The food, meanwhile, when it finally came out, was actually pretty good, which is why I’m not giving this place a 1 star review. We had a chicken sandwich and a quesadilla. I would recommend to avoid this place.

El Yate is always the first choice for my husband and I. We get great food and great service, every time!!! Right next to the ferry, there is no reason to miss this place during your visit to Vieques.

Seriously, best food I ever had in the US(except for the Maine lobsters). My husband and I had a dinner and a lunch here. The Churrasco is sooooo delicious. We also had seafood mix and yellow snapper as today’s fresh catch. All I can say about the food is PERFECT. It worths all the waiting.
