While it may not be one Barcelona’s best tapas bars, El Cercle still offers a wonderful rooftop locale to enjoy a beverage, a bite to eat, and drink in the wonderful ambience of Barcelona’s Gothic quarter. This is a place that will surely delight if you’re not too picky. The service is typically European, meaning a bit slow and occasionally slipshot, but they will ultimately deliver if you’re patient. The food is good if you stick with the local classics. There’s a full bar menu and a handful of beers. I recommend the drafts. My advice is to go for the ambience, and for a bit of relaxation. Check your American expectations at the door and embrace the fact you’re in one of the world’s most wonderful cities.

I would have given this place 0 stars if that were an option — solely due to the food because the atmosphere/ambiance was great. My boyfriend and I are from the NYC area and wanted to have lunch outside in the gotic court while visiting Barcelona. We both ordered the chicken noodle dish on the Japanese menu and it was the worst dish either of us had ever had. It seems from reading the other reviews that the Mediterranean menu is the way to go.

We ate on the terrace which was wonderful. Good views of the little plaza below. This was one of my husbands favorite lunches. The tomato and burrata salad, as well as the Caesar salad was very good. My husband had the mini Iberian pork sand which, which was amazing. He could not stop talking about it. I had the cannelloni which was very good as well. We didn’t try any of the Japanese cuisine but it did look really good.

Very nice. Great view from the patio that sits above the quiet square. I had the pork ribs which and wife had the seafood paella, both were very delicious. Had the tiramisu and assorted ice creams for dessert. Very tasty. Service started off as attentive but fell down in the end. Ordered another bottle of wine and after 20 minutes of waiting were told they didn’t have that bottle, ran out. I would still recommend.

The terrace here in 1st floor, in sunny time, is like we are in heaven. After a shopping, for a bit of extraction from the crowds, it’s perfect for lunch. They have the best paella that we taste this trip in Barcelona. Starters were nothing special. Also notice that this is restaurant is to me really over expensive.

This place was just around the corner from our hotel. The 2nd floor terrace was the drawing point for us as it was a great view and cooler breeze. We sat watching the plaza below and had a great dinner. You can see some of the food posted. All were great and would go here again on future visits. The bar area outside looks very good and romantic setting.

Chose this place mainly because of the view. Looks like it was straight out of a movie. Looking down you see all the shops, all the people, it’s just great. I got the yakisoba and the portion was small, but the flavors were delicious. A bit on the salty side thou. The waiters were friendly. My friend ordered a dish that had a chili pepper in it and she ate it unknowingly and when we asked for milk, they just gave it to us for free. They probably felt bad when they saw how red she got ;)

First lunch in Barcelona! Nice upstairs patio in the el Gotic neighborhood. I had the pan con tomate which was a good size portion and was delicious. Cod croquette was good but nothing amazing. Papatas Bravas was ok too, but the oysters were my least favorite just because it did come with any accompaniments. Overall, I think it is a good restaurant, service was good and the ambience was nice too for a outdoor lunch in town.

Nothing fancy outside of the view… the food was OK and edible… the mojito was awful, just order beer or wine

I stumbled upon this place while walking through Barcelona. They had several seating areas inside, apart from each other so you can find your private spot. We’ve tried their cold soup, nothing fancy, I wouldn’t do it again. But other things, traditional Spanish dishes, were good, so it was a good spot to take a break, refuel and continue our journey.
