Sants Estació

La estación está bien ubicada porque no está a las afueras pero tampoco está en pleno centro así que se accede a ella fácilmente en metro o coche.
Hay una parada de taxis justo a la salida para los que vayan cargados o se lo puedan permitir así que eso también añade a la accesibilidad.
En cuanto a servicios no está mal. Hay un Body Shop, un Calzedonia y las típicas tiendas de artículos varios para cuando vas de viaje (libros, prensa, chuches, agua, etc). En cuanto a bares, yo nunca he sido fan de los bares/​restaurantes de estación porque siempre te cobran el «impuesto revolucionario» de estación/​aeropuerto. Vamos que el precio suele ser desorbitado para la cálida que se ofrece. Por eso a veces opto por ir al McDonalds. Establecimiento al que nunca voy excepto en estas circunstancias. Porque al menos pagas un precio razonable por una calidad aceptable.
Así que mi recomendación para foodies que vayan a viajar en tren vía Sants… Llevaros el bocata de casa o desayunad en el McDonalds, aunque parezca sacrilegio yo desde luego es lo que recomiendo.

Se trata de mi estación de trenes favorita, supongo que será porque la suelo visitar bastante a menudo.
En principio puede resultar un poco caótica, pues hay muchas entradas y salidas que se confunden para trenes de cercanias y largas distancias junto el.metro.
Alli mismo también puedes encontrar el hotel barceló Sants, y alguna tienda, jubto con opciones de restauración.
Seguramente no sea la estación mas moderna, pero si es una de las que más personal pasa por alli cada dia.

Esta estación me trae muchos recuerdos aunque siempre la he visto un poco caótica. Y los pocos o muchos cambios que han hecho a lo largo de los años no han hecho sino incrementar esa sensación. También tengo que decir que se ha incrementado el número de pasajeros desde la primera vez que pasé por aquí por lo que a veces me pregunto si no se habrá quedado un poco pequeña.
El caso es que ahora para mí solo es una estación de paso, la mayoría de las veces, por lo que creo que cumple su función a la perfección. Además cuando llegas con un tren de larga distancia y tienes que coger otro siempre hay personal de la estación esperando para llevarte al enlace, a la zona del check-​in lo más rápido posible. Y desde esta estación puedes comunicarte fácilmente. Con la red de metro y autobuses de la ciudad por lo que es fácil llegar a cualquier parte en poco tiempo.

Vengo mucho por aquí, aunque no me suelo parar demasiado. Salgo del Metro, cojo el AVE, salgo del AVE, cojo el Metro y, como mucho, me tomo un café o me compro algo para comer por el camino.
Es una estación muy grande y bien conservada, con multitud de tiendas y cafeterías donde pasar el tiempo de sobra antes de coger cualquiera de los transportes que salen y llegan aquí.
Me parece bastante bien señalizado tanto el acceso a las líneas de Metro como el de los trenes de larga distancia, y están bastante cerca, además (en otras estaciones centrales hay que recorrer distancias bastante más grandes para cambiar de uno a otro).

La estación esta bien de accesos y es cómoda a la hora de coger un tren .

El vestíbulo mas bien parece un centro comercial el cual a quitado mucho espacio a los viajeros. Las tiendas de los lados perfecto, en el centro me sobran todas .
Si vas con prisa para cercanías es una verdadera carrera de obstáculos.

Segunda estación de Barcelona para la comunicación de trenes, metros y autobuses para moverte por la ciudad o llegar a otros sitios, como el aeropuerto del Prat.
Esta muy bien indicado con pantallas y señales para que sepas donde está tu siguiente línea de transporte.

Creo que la palabra que mejor define a esta estación es que es PRÁCTICA. Siendo un punto de conexión importante para Barcelona con otras ciudades la verdad es que no es muy grande, lo que hace que no sea para nada complicada.
A mí, que soy bastante dada a perderme y desorientarme, me parece muy cómoda y práctica.
Además, hay bastantes tiendas donde poder pasar el rato mientras esperas al tren: ropa, complementos, prensa, libros e incluso farmacia. Y hay también cafeterías donde poder tomar algo tanto allí como para llevar.

Es una de las principales estaciones de tren de Barcelona. Está conectada con trenes de cercanías y metro así que se puede llegar con facilidad desde cualquier punto de la ciudad.
Una novedad que han incorporado en estos últimos años es el escáner para equipajes, lo cual da más seguridad a la hora de subirse a un tren (siempre y cuando la persona encargada esté mirando la pantalla mientras se escanean las maletas, claro).
Por desgracia, no dejan acompañar a tus amig@s o familiares hasta el mismo tren para poder despedirte o ayudarles con las maletas pesadas. Sobre todo, si es una persona mayor que no tiene fuerza para poder subirla al portaequipajes. Aún así, siempre puedes pedir ayuda a algún empleado de Renfe que encuentres cerca y, si en ese momento no hay nadie (que puede ser lo más probable), pedir ayuda a algún pasajero amable que esté en tu mismo vagón.

Se trata de la estación principal de trenes de Barcelona, cuenta con una buena comunicación por metro y diferentes autobuses y servicio de taxis.
Dentro de ella podremos encontrar cafeterias, tiendas, erc. Hasta ahí todo normal como podemos encontrar en cualquier estación de trenes de dimensiones similares.
Los servicios públicos cuestan 0,50 €, pero están muy limpios para todo el transito de pasajeros que pasa por la estación. Esos 0,50 € son descontados si los presentamos al hacer una consumición superior a 2,5 € dentro de la estación.

Pretty easy station to navigate and pretty close to the city center. I took the Renfe train to Madrid and it was a breeze!
SECURITY:
Easy — just place your luggage in the X-​ray machine (even huge pieces) and go through security! A hell of a lot faster than airport security.
CAFE:
For some reason, I really enjoy eating at cafés in European train stations. This one had wonderful bocadillos and other you European offerings! A great way to kill time if you are early (as I was).

Tras dos años y medio sin pisar Barcelona (y ahora en una semana voy dos veces), actualizo un poco mi reseña (la anterior es más útil) para indicar tres cosas interesantes, dos de ellas nuevas:
1.- Un sitio chulo para comprar un bocadilllo para el tren (si es un viaje largo) es «El cafè de l’estació», está junto al McCafé más o menos, tiene una terracita, para que lo reconozcáis mejor. Es este
2.- El mercat de l’estació, que hace un par de años no estaba, o no lo vi, es un sitio interesantísimo para desayunar o merendar, e ir al baño sin pagar, aunque sobre esto tengo mi opinión. Es este
3.- «Pay per pis», al igual que en Puerta de Atocha, pero ojo, yo he conocido los baños de Atocha (y los de Estaciò del Nord, Valencia) y si por 50 céntimos me ahorro el ir al baño y aguantarme las ganas de vomitar y gano en limpieza y espacio, pues como que no me duele pagarlos.

Es práctica, sí. Es sencilla, sí. Pero es fea, tan fea como pegar a un padre con un calcetín sudao… Nada en comparación con la Estació de França!
Por otro lado, no tiene complicación ninguna. Entras, pinpan, pinpan, y te haces con ella en un santiamén. Eso es de agradecer en una estación.
Si llegas con tiempo, tienes un montón de tiendas y cafeterías, todas a precio de Barcelona (o sea, caras).

Sants Estació es la estación más importante de Barcelona conectada con la ciudad a través de las líneas de metro verde y azul.
También hay una estación de bus al lado.
Suelo pasar por esta estación muy a menudo, es ahí donde cojo el Rodalies para llegar al aeropuerto (¡servicio que por cierto esta muy bien aunque últimamente ha tenido algún problemilla!).
Mi opinión sobre Sant Estacio ha ido cambiando a lo largo del tiempo y cada vez ha empeorado a causas de problemas que afectan un lugar tan estratégico como este y que todavía no han sido solucionados.
La estación en si no esta mal, hay muchas tiendas y bares donde tomar algo durante la espera (¡aunque los precios son muy caros!)
Sin embargo hay servicios que no deberían faltar y que siguen faltando. Me refiero principalmente a las escaleras mecánicas que conectan la estación de trenes con la de metro. Antes estaban en obras. Bueno se entiende, suelen ser rápidos. Esto era lo que pensaba al principio, pero no! Aun sigue habiendo escaleras mecánicas que no están en función obligándote a cargar con las maletas.
¿Ascensores? Ni hablar, no hay o por lo menos yo no consigo encontrarlos.
¿Baños? De pago. Me parece alucinante que en un lugar de tal importancia no cuente con baños accesibles gratuitamente.
Definitivamente una Estación que no esta a la altura de una ciudad tan avanzada y importante como Barna.
¡Menos bares y tiendas y mas servicios!

Esta estación de trenes me mola mucho… Pese a ser la estación de una gran ciudad como es Barcelona, no resulta excesiva de tamaño y es muy complicado liarte o perderte en sus pasillos ya que esta todo perfectamente identificado e indicado.
También dispone de muchas tiendas y bares/​cafeterías (igual no son muchas pero teniendo en cuenta que la estación de Zaragoza parece un erial…) lo que hace que la espera no te resulte excesiva ya que puedes adquirir desde una revista o un libro, comprar los regalos que no te ha dado tiempo de comprar durante tu estancia en Barcelona o tomarte una cervecita con un mini de jamón…
Sinceramente si tuviera que quedarme con una estación de tren de España, me quedaría con esta…

Desasosiego, esa es la palabra que me viene a la mente cada vez que debo ir a esta estación. Me sorprende lo poco práctica que es para lo importante que es, valga la redundancia. Puedes tomar desde un cercanías, pasando por los largas distancias, ave e incluso metro. A su favor tiene que cuenta con el seguridad más majo de la historia en sus consignas.
Muy recomendable es hacer ejercicios de respiración para hacer más llevadera la experiencia

No sé si es porque a mí, cuando viajo a cualquier sitio de más de un millón de habitantes, me nace en el pelo una boina de «lasiudánoehpamí», pero esta estación central me parece algo caótica y no me da la sensación de que su sistema organizativo sea el mejor. Un solo edificio para dominarlos a todos: desde trenes de cercanías o regionales hasta la alta velocidad, y si me apuras un par de líneas de metro. Fácil no es, casi siempre he tenido que echar mano de algún empleado y, milagrosamente, parece que al menos lo mejorcito de Adif se concentra aquí.
Me gusta que pegadito a la estación esté el Parque de la España Industrial porque se presta para hacer tiempo en caso de que llegues demasiado pronto a tu salida o a tu llegada. También que, accediendo por la puerta de la estación que deja a mano derecha el parque, haya una consigna enoooorme donde puedes dejar tus trastos si lo necesitas sin límite de tiempo (taquilla pequeña 3,69 €; grande 5,20) y con una maravillosa máquina de cambio.

This review may be a bit biased; my experiences traveling to and exploring remote beach towns of catalonia has a special place in my heart, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the region’s wonderful rail system.
This station is no non-​sense, easy to navigate to and from your destination, and have many a ticketing and service staff that speak multiple languages. Most thankfully, English.
Our two weeks in catalonia was a once in a life time adventure, and this station helped make it happen.

He visitado esta estación en más de una ocasión, y como dice alguien que conozco muy bien, útil y práctica a la hora de los trenes (entradas, salidas, etc.) es. Pero bonita, para nada…
Decir algo más que no se haya dicho ya, es complicado, pero quiero recalcar lo que me pasó una vez… De repente, todos los baños que no están dentro de un establecimiento, ¿de pago? ¡Perdóname! Fatal, horrible!!!
Positivo: funcional para los trenes.
Negativo: es cuadrada, fea, con baños de pago… Eso creo que es imperdonable. Espero lo cambien o lo hayan cambiado ya…

Increíblemente, esta estación, con la afluencia e importancia que tiene no es ni moderna ni amable: poca señalización, casi ningún sitio donde sentarse a esperar, la conexión con el metro sin escaleras mecánicas: justo lo que necesitas cuando regresas de viaje y tienes una maleta que pesa el doble que tú !
Es una estación potencialmente perfecta por lo bien conectada que está: linea 3 y 5 del metro, AVE, Renfe, ojalá que las reformas vengan pronto y sean rapidas!

important train station located in the heart of barcelona with connections to renfe and several city metro lines. to say this train station is big is an understatement. this train station w-​a-​s H-​U-​G-​E! geez… i’d passed through once while transferring from the airport train to the local metro and it took quite some time to navigate the tunnels and walkways before i made my connection. the second time, i came here to catch my overnight train to granada and i’m glad i arrived early b/​c it took some time to get my bearings straight and locate the ticket desk and platform. i couldn’t tell you how many different platforms there were, but there were a lot. and there were a ton of trains leaving at the late evening hour that my train was scheduled to depart so i had to be sure to queue up at the correct platform. there were tons of food options, mcdonalds being one of them, and several local cafes. there were also several kiosks in the middle of the station with vendors selling goods such as mobile phone accessories. i appreciated the dual spanish and english signage, without which, i’m sure i’d have missed my train!

This station is a joke. Like everything in Spain, bureaucracy and really bad manners turn this place into anarchy. When you try to buy a predate ticket, the employees will yell at you, roll their eyes and basically tell you to get lost and use the maquina. However, the maquina does not work with American credit cards because you need a damn security code. Should have told me that before I spent an hour on this dysfunctional piece of shit machine. When you choose English, the fucker goes back to Spanish to tell you shit does not work. And when tickets are not available, you have to fucking start over. It does not let you press backward to try another trip time. Then, at the end when you think you got your ticket, the maquina asks for a damn security code on your card. Then you go back to the ticket window after spending ½ an hour on this shit and the employee yells at you in Spanish and because I took Spanish in high school I figure out he’s telling me to come back on the day of my trip and try to purchase then. You cabron, you could have told me that a ½ hour ago when I was at your damn window the first time. Top it off, this cabron is yelling at me, telling me to get lost! Man, this station is straight out of terry gillams Brazil.

If you are familiar with Washington D.C.‘s Union Station, this place will remind you of it. And, by that, I mean that you can catch the train, the subway, the tram, and the bus and even hail a taxi. What makes the whole thing sweet is that you only need that one farecard to catch a ride!
Upon arrival, you may be overwhelmed with ticket booths peppered throughout the station. Breathe! Take a look at the machine and explore. Don’t let the line behind you rush. They will go to the other machines when available.
You pay per ride regardless of your destination. So, if you are staying for a few days or longer, get the multi-​day passes and you’ll save money. If you are like me, wanting to see all the points of interests, the multi-​day pass is a lifesaver. You won’t have to be looking for euro coins in the bottom of pockets and pouches.
This station has a McDonald’s, some restaurants, a bookstore, and a ‘farmacia’, among others.
It can get quite warm in the station. People around might make you feel rushed, but go at a slow pace to keep your cool.
This station is nearby restaurants, shops, parks, malls, historic points of interests and many more.
The best part is that this stop takes you to the airport.

Barcelona Sants Station is functional and easy to navigate.
There were quite a few self served Renfe ticket machine in various entrance so getting our tickets to Valencia was quite simple. Just the machine seemed to dislike my credit cards… but accepted my Unilocal friend’s one gladly.
The waiting area and ticketing area is spacious and bright with tons of windows letting the natural light in.
Accessible by Metro and direct to and from the airport, made travelling just so easy!

Es inexplicable como Barcelona, siendo de las cinco ciudades con más turismo de Europa, puede tener unas estaciones tan deplorables de trenes y autobuses.
Sants es fea tanto dentro como por fuera, incómoda, poco práctica y mal señalizada. En algunos andenes el espacio entre las escaleras y las vías es mínimo. Es difícil — si no imposible — encontrar mapas de las rutas y recorridos de los trenes que por allí circulan. Las caras de turistas (y también locales) con sus miradas perdidas tratando de descubrir la información necesaria es sólo una de las penurias que se viven en esta, la principal estación de la ciudad.
¿Vienes con maletas y mochilas y haces trasbordo a la L3 o L5 del metro? Pues más vale que tengas el físico a punto, porque no hay escaleras mecánicas ni ascensores en la conexión.
¿Hambre? Espero que te guste McDonald’s o los clásicos bocatas de pan duro, porque no hay muchas más opciones.
¿Ganas de ir al baño? Mejor que lleves unas monedas contigo, porque hay que pagar para entrar a los lavabos.
¿Cansancio o aburrimiento? Pues más te vale llevar libros o el tablet con mucha batería, porque las salas de espera tienen algunas sillas incómodas y poco más.
A un lado en una calle aledaña se encuentra la aún más horrorosa estación de autobuses donde llegan y parten compañías como ALSA.

It’s a really large train station with plenty of food stops. We came here to purchase and take a train. There is an info booth and ticket purchase lines, make sure you are in the right one. It was easy to get to via the metro and quick for ticket purchase and departure. Helpful Info guide stationed to send you where you need.

Aunque es la principal estación de tren de Barcelona, creo que está algo anticuada y que podría mejorarse bastante (se construyó en 1979 y me parece que ha tenido pocas remodelaciones…). Además, no es muy bonita que digamos, sobretodo si la comparamos con otros lugares emblemáticos o importantes de la ciudad.
Aquí paran todos los trenes de cercanías, de media y larga distancia y los de alta velocidad como el AVE (como me gusta viajar en AVE ;) Hay un hotel de la cadena Barceló justo encima; También cuenta con una estación de autobuses muy cerca y está a escasos metros de otro punto emblemático de Barcelona, Plaza España.

Barcelona may be a huge city that attracts a lot of visitors to see its many wonders, but the train station Sants will not be a memorable stay or visit for anyone. I departed Barcelona on a train to Zaragoza. I had an online ticket that I didn’t know whether to exchange for a real ticket or just keep what I had. I was told to go to the ticket sales counter and passed my printed ticket under the security window to the woman behind it. She looked at me, looked at the paper I shoved through to her, and all she did was shrug her shoulders and THROW it back out at me. How stupid. I asked several times what I was supposed to do with it. She said not a word, just kept shrugging her shoulders like an idiot, which she obviously was. I wish RENFE would train their ticket sales people to be considerate and not act like a stupid idiot, but I had to remember I was in Barcelona. I saw that other visitors, even spaniards were having the same problem too.
Later at the departure gate, they didn’t act any better. They announced a departing train as AVE A LAS 12 but everyone thought — Spaniards also — they were announcing ABIERTO A LAS 12. Only when we — a small group of waiting clients consisting of spanish, french and me an american — realized that Barcelona and Catalans hate the rest the Spain did we realize that the three attendants making these announcements could have made it easier for people to understand which train by announcing instead AVE A LAS 12 A MADRID but they wouldn’t dare say MADRID, so each time they announced their stupid AVE A LAS 12 another person would come forward only to be told to wait to the side, this is not their train.
Renfe: your customer service is terrible. The way they announce trains and treat clients is stupid and idiotic. BUT I know nobody from Renfe will ever read this because the company simply does not care about their clients, so it’s a waste of time to tell Renfe, BUT at least others wanting to ride renfe trains are forewarned. Don’t expect excellent service; expect the worst. Because that’s what we all get.

Perfectly mehh. Mildly confusing with not many info stations. To help lost tourists out. There’s a McDonalds for wary souls but not much more for folks needing a lift.

Transportation infrastructure development is a highly controversial issue in Spain. I’m sure many an individual will tell you that Sants’ ills are the product of such unequal distribution of infrastructure funding in this country… In any event, I will tell you that, compared to other Spanish «capitals» Barcelona is under-​equipped to handle the high frequency/​volume rail travel to this key intersection of the Peninsula and the Mediterranean.
Sants Estació is big, dark, mostly underground, and poorly illuminated. All of this is to be expected of a train station of this sort. What is really problematic, I think, is the low quality of the signage throughout the facility. While AVE/​Avant/​Alvia trains that take you to other large cities are generally easy to find and board, little information is posted about the numerous Rodalies/​other Renfe services that leave from Sants. Different escalators take you to different sections of the station, various screens show distinct, if incomplete information, and you never know if you’re actually on the right side of the platform or not. So much of these issues could be fixed with just a bit more thoughtful costumer-​facing thought. I hope someone considers this, because I think it would sace residents and visitors alike much frustration!

This train station is horrible, stuffy, dirty, confusing and railway employees with whom we talked spoke only Spanish! We didn’t find information desk and we just managed with few words Spanish to buy our tickets! Unfortunately train we took went to wrong direction and so we lost lot of time! At the end we arrived at our destination but of course very late!

Ein sehr großer Bahnhof, Barcelonas Hauptbahnhof. Leider ist er aber dennoch unterdimensioniert. Es ist fast unerträglich voll und überall wird angestanden. Wir brauchten ein Regionalticket, diese gibt es jedoch nur an 8 Schaltern. So mussten wir ca. 30 min anstehen und verpassten so unseren Zug. Die knapp 20 Schalter daneben langweilten sich, waren uns aber keine Hilfe, denn dort gibt es ausschließlich Ticket für Fernzüge. Automaten sind theoretisch ausreichend vorhanden. Leider sind aber 90% davon ausschließlich mit Kreditkarte zu nutzen. Daher waren sie oft leer. In Gegensatz zu den Bargeldautomaten auch dort gab es immer Warteschlangen, die durch den halben Bahnhof führten. Sauber war es nicht, aber das trifft auf fast alle Bahnhöfe in Barcelona zu. Daher nicht weiter bemerkenswert. Das Gleis auf dem der Zug einfährt wird erst sehr kurzfristig bekannt gegeben. Ein Grund ist mir nicht ersichtlich. Unser Zug war bis 2 min vor der Einfahrt noch nicht angegeben. Was zu unnötiger Hektik führt. Daher 4 Punkte Anzug.

Convent for all travelers. You can take this to the airport. Instead of taking the taxi which cost you € 25,00 to € 30,00. You can take this pretty much any place outside of bcn.
They have stores, café, pharmacy, and McDonald! Yes a McDonald! You think they would have one at every corner or so In bcn. Lol

Having arrived at this station coming from Madrid, I found this station to be much harder to navigate. We had a difficult time finding information in the station, and when we returned on a subsequent day to take a commuter train to a nearby town, had a very difficult time trying to figure out which track it was on! All in all, it’s a clean facility, and the trains are clean and efficient.

La Estación de Sants quedará bastante liberada de gente en cuanto se inaugure la grán Estación de la Sagrera que dicen que puede ser en el año 2013; yo creo que con el retraso que lleva esa infraestructura y el acondicionamiento de la llegada del TGV francés podría inaugurarse bastante más tarde. Cuando esté operativa esta estación, la de Sants perderá protagonismo y flujo de gente.

I love train travel and this station is pretty simple if you have a grasp on some Spanish. Compared to Penn Station in New York it’s clean and simple. Compared to getting on a plane it’s a dream.
Of course Sants cannot compare to Atoch in Madrid, Union Station in Washing DC, 30^th Street Station in Philadelphia as those are nice places to be. My experience in Catalonia has been as such to see they have a flair for all things public, the parks, the metro, the museums, the general walking spaces throughout the cities and so forth. So it pains me to say that something here is just average.
But it is just average – simple and clean. The only big wish was finding more places to plug in my lap-​top.

Sants Railway Station or Sants Estació is the main railway station in Barcelona. The Station is named after Sants, the neighbourhood of Barcelona in which it is located. It has become the Catalan capital’s most important transport hub — being the centre of Rodalies de Catalunya, including Barcelona suburban railway services and regional services, as well as the main inter-​city station for national and international destinations. You can now take a high-​speed train here from Madrid, and it was here that our train from Girona arrived. However, Gracia station just before it was a more convenient stop for where Gayle and I were staying.

I found this station to be much more crowded than Madrid, and also much harder to figure out. It isn’t difficult to maneuver, but you should know that depending on where you want to go and when you want to leave, there are several different lines (don’t stand in the wrong one… I didn’t have to learn the hard way, and I hope you don’t either).
1. If you’re there to buy a ticket ahead of time, there is a special line. Take a number.
2. If you’re going somewhere relatively nearby, go to cercanías
3. If it’s a bit further away, I think it says like media distancia or something like that
4. Far away places, larga distancia
Remember that a lot of stuff is in Catalan (love it), but also Spanish, and there are people strategically placed all over the station to help you out. I don’t know whether they all speak English or not.
Listening in on several conversations on the train, it seems like McDonald’s is one of its high points. Personally, I preferred the rain forest at Atocha.

This station happens to be one of the bigger stations that will get you many places. For us the intersection of the metro and the Renfe that took us out to Sant Celoni to see the great Santi Santamaria and his place, Can Fabes. My friend tells me this great story how he always seems this one girl asking for one or two euro to catch a train home. He’s been seeing her there for like 5 years! So a major transport hub but also the hustle and bustle of scammers and all types of other people abound.

Ausstattung:
Dieser Bahnhof ist wie ein Flughafen.
Alles ist geräumig und modern.
Die Gleise sind über UBahn-​ähnliche Zugänge mit Ticketvalidierung und Drehkreuz oder –passage vom frei zugänglichen Bereich getrennt.
Manche Gates (Gleise) sind sogar mit einem Security Check mit Röntgengeräten für das Gepäck etc. ausgestattet, genau wie an einem Flughafen.
Fahrkartenautomaten und Schalter sind viele vorhanden, stehende Warteschlangen werden durch Nummern ziehen und Wartebereiche mit Sitzplätzen vermieden.
Cafés, Kioske, Supermärkte und Bäckereien befinden sich für die Fahrgäste und Passanten in einer großen Halle.
Die riesige Einfahr. und Einstieganzeigetafel über den Kassenschaltern erinnert ebenfalls an Flugabfahrtspläné.
Abfahrtzeit, Zielort und Gleis werden dort angezeigt, sowie blinkend auf den Status «einfahrend», «einsteigend», «abfahrend» aufmerksam gemacht. Unser Zug hatte leider im Gegensatz zu den anderen Zügen vor und nach uns erst 5 Minuten vor Abfahrt den Gleis zugewiesen bekommen. Die Zeit reichte aber völlig aus, um durch die Fahrkartenvalidierung und die Rolltreppen zum Zug zu kommen.
Guter Service, sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal
Fahrkarten:
Es stehen viele Automaten herum für Zuggäste, die eine spezielle wiederaufladbare Karte oder evtl. sowas wie eine Bahncard haben. Dann gibt es noch viele Kassenschalter, ca 25 an der Zahl. Dort gibt es jeweils einen Wartebereich mit Sitzen und einen Automaten mit einer Nummer zu ziehen. Dort stand bei jedem Kassenschalterbereich (2 davon habe ich gesehen) eine Auskunft. Sie entscheidet, ob jemand sich hier anstellen muss oder an einer anderen Kassenschlange.
So erhielten wir an 2 Auskunftsstellen die Auskunft, zu anderen Schaltern zu gehen. Am Ende standen wir vor der kürzesten Schlange und erhielten dort unsere Tickets für den Zug.
Anscheinend waren die Kassen in die Bereiche eingeteilt: Nahverkehr, Mittelstreckenverkehr und Fernverkehr.
Wir wussten dank vorheriger Onlinerecherche auf
welche Fahrtzeiten und Fahrtkosten auf uns zukamen.
Für eine 90 km Strecke von Barcelona nach Girona zahlten wir je 6,80EUR. Die Fahrt dauert 1,10h. Die Preise variieren je nach Zug.
Die Tickets kann man auch online kaufen, es gibt einen geringen Online-​Rabatt, der sich bei dieser Kurz– bis Mittelstrecke nicht gelohnt hat.
Die Anbindung an die Metro ist gut. Wir fanden von der Metro aus den Weg in den Bahnhof ohne Probleme.
Der Zug war sehr angenehm. Sauber und geräumig, ähnlich wie ein ICE oder schon fast die erste Klasse bei uns. Großraumabteile mit mehreren 4er Sitzgruppen mit Tisch und vielen 2er Sitzreihen.
Die kann man bei belieben einfach zu 4er Sitzgruppen ändern, und damit auch die Sitzrichtung ändern für 2 Plätze, indem man die Sitzlehnen hochhebt und nach hinten schiebt. Das ganze dauert nur 3 Sekunden. ;-)
Also der Bahnhof bekommt 4 Sterne. Das ist schon eine riesen Leistung.

Barcelona Sants is the city’s main railway station, operated by the national train company, Renfe.
Virtually all long-​distance and medium-​distance regional trains depart from Sants, including the new high-​speed AVE service, which can get you to Madrid in just over two and a half hours, sleeper services to most other regions of Spain, and the Euromed service to Valencia. It is also the centre of the extensive suburban train service (Rodalies or Cercanías), which includes the half-​hourly airport train on line C10, and the trains to the popular resort of Sitges (4 trains per hour) on line C2. Located some distance to the northwest of the city centre, it is a major hub for Barcelona metro (lines L3 and L5) and bus services (lines 27, 30, 32, 43, 44, 78, 109), and has a plentiful supply of taxis, as well as car parking.
The station sits between two large squares, and is currently undergoing a major modernisation and expansion of its facilities in connection following the inauguration of the AVE trains to Madrid, and preparation for the extension of the high-​speed line into France, currently under construction. This modernisation has been completed at platform level, transforming what was one of Europe’s least pleasant station environments (on a par with Birmingham New Street) to a more modern and brighter feel, although it is still all underground. Six platforms have now been converted to the European standard gauge, for use by the AVE services, with 8 for other Renfe services on the wider Spanish gauge tracks.
It’s also worth knowing that, until summer 2008, travel is free on lines C2 and C10 going west (towards Sitges, Vilanova and the airport) in recompense for service disruptions in 2007. Ask staff at the ticket barriers for a free ticket.
Above the platforms, the main station circulation area is spacious and bright, although signage is poor, and the layout with separate ticket offices and information points for local, medium and long-​distance trains can be rather confusing. During the modernisation, there seem to be a lot of staff around to help, although few speak much English, so be prepared with to speak Spanish. Be warned that the modernisation is set to take until 2012, so facilities may move around or be withdrawn during the works.
Facilities within the station are extensive and include: the four-​star Hotel Barceló Sants, a left-​luggage office, car hire, restaurant, cafeteria, bookshop, pharmacy, newsagent, facilities for people with hearing difficulties, a Tourist Information Office with hotel reservation service, currency exchange booths and cash-​points. (A good local tip is that a number of the shops sell sandwiches and soft drinks at lower prices than the cafeterias.) The current refurbishment will also see step-​free access extended throughout the station.
