venimos aquí a comer como nuestra primera experiencia de restaurante en España. Nos quedamos un grupo de 13 sentado en 3 mesas diferentes. Pedimos su mayoría hamburguesas y papas fritas. Cada hamburguesa estaba cruda. Mi marido en realidad se enfermó. No pude comer la mía en absoluto, porque estoy embarazada. Me imaginé tal vez pueda comer patatas fritas en vez desde que perdí mi apetito por la hamburguesa. Las patatas fritas eran demasiado cruda. Nadie en la mesa podía comer sus patatas fritas. Entonces me di tal vez pueda probar el postre para que yo no voy a la cama con hambre. Pedí 2 camareras separadas por un menú para que pudiera pedir postre y 20 minutos pasaron, no hay menú. Finalmente pedí la hora y le dije a la camarera que había pedido 2 camareras para el menú y ella me miraba como si no hubiera oído lo que he dicho y procedió a voz baja a las otras 2 camareras. no hace falta decir que no volveremos a comer aquí de nuevo, y espero que el chef aprende a cocinar.

Viajo mucho y cuesta encontrar hoteles, especialmente de ciudad — negocios, que sorpendan. Céntrico, con un buen parking, decoración muy agradable, culturalmente incentivadora y entretenida. Habitación pequeña pero acogedora y a la que el interiorisa ha sabido sacarle partido (planta 9). Cama cómoda y ducha de alcachofa generosa, con buena presión de agua y temperatura. Simpático el minibar gastronómico, únicamente con productos locales, incluyendo cervezas artesanas. El desayuno correcto, bien presentado, con los productos justos, pues eché de meno algún caliente, pero lo mismo habiá que pedirlo (no lo ofrecieron). Cafetería más que agradable, cuidada y con buena cocina. El servicio, sin ser antipático, tampoco es la alegría de la huerta y no acompaña a la cocina.

Opinión sobre el restaurante:
Me habían recomendado este sitio por su cocina cuidada, variada y muy decorativa. Hoy he podido comprobarlo de primera mano; en principio íbamos a probar algunos Pintxos y hemos terminado cenando .
Hemos pedido una degustación de pintxos y yo me he creado mi propia degustación pidiendo 4 diferentes también;
Hay que decir, que los tamaños de estas mini-​raciones vienen a ser como…
— 2 pintxos = 1 plato
Así que con 4 pintxos (10 – 11 € IVA incluido) has comido un primero y un segundo.
El sitio es espacioso, la decoración moderna y relacionada con el cine, pero con un toque más refinado que el típico Foster’s Hollywood.
El trato para mí gusto ha sido perfecto. Cercano y correcto, guardando las distancias pero sin llegar a ser secos, ni rancios. Han sido dos camareras (a lo Zipi-​Zape, por lo de Rubia-​Morena) que nos han presentado los platos muy correctamente, y con un trato simpático.
Mi recomendación personal: si os van los Hot-​Dogs, tienen uno casero (sisi, la salchicha es casera, y sin coñas).
Para los Paelleros como yo, hay dos arroces cremosos (de verduras con langostinos y de chipirones) que están a cada cual mejor!
Y por último, Huevos hervidos a baja temperatura… Atención señores:

Si os preocupan los precios, ahí va una idea:
a) degustación de pintxos (3 tipos) + agua/​copa vino + postre — 13 € (IVA incluido)
MÁS…
b) 4 pintxos/​raciones de la carta + agua + vino + tarta de manzana recién horneada (6 €) + Pan para 2 personas.
Todo esto han sido 33 €. Regalado teniendo en cuenta el resto de la oferta de la ciudad y la calidad/​servicio del local.

The Astoria7 is a boutique hotel based on the San Sebastián film festival, the rooms are themed around the famous actors and are sleek and comfortable. The bar and restaurant are excellent and inexpensive. It is a 30 minute walk to the old town and beautiful sandy bay. Lots of good shopping to be had and of course there is pinchos the local basque version of tapas lots of bars and excellent restaurants. Highly recommended.

Opino del restaurante: trato exquisito, local amplio y muy bien iluminado. Muy aconsejable para parejas con niños. Un detalle precioso lo de la pantalla de cine…
El menú degustacion lo dejo en aceptable. Notable el secreto iberico y los postres. El pescado más flojo…
No es barato. Pero tampoco se pasan de caro, teniendo en cuenta lo que es la ciudad. Aprobado.

This hotel was one of the greatest places that we’ve stayed at… ever! My husband is a huge movie buff and this was his absolutely dream hotel. Each room is themed with a specific actor or actress with the featured actor being Alfred Hitchcock. Very clean, very modern, and very nice staff. The hotel is about a mile away from the city center but you can very easily walk or take the bus, which stops right out front. Of course they can also call you a cab too, which might cost you around 7 euros. If you are taking a bus to any other cities, you are also just around the corner from the bus station. Being slightly outside of the direct city center was nice. There are close by parks and it’s a wonderfully clean and safe town to walk in.
We never ate at the hotel, but I did hear great things about the food at the adjacent restaurant.

Típico hotel de ciudad con la salvedad de que está decorado con ambiente cinéfilo.
Está bien ubicado y tiene parking por un precio razonable.

La nota exacta es un 3,5. Y hablaré del restaurante, no del hotel (de momento mis amantes no se estiran…)
Amigos y amigas, gentes y gentas: soy un fraude de guipuzcoana. No conozco NADA Donosti. Y lo digo con la voz baja, casi susurrando, que no es que me sienta orgullosa de ello. He vivido muchos años en Bilbao y por hache o por bé Vitoria también lo he frecuentado bastante. Por Pamplona sé moverme medianamente bien y Labort (Lapurdi), Baja Navarra y Sola (Xiberua) han sido destinos recurrentes de fines de semana con mis padres cuando era cría. Pero San Sebastian?
Éste mes, por varias razones personales y a su vez poco interesantes, he tenido que ir más de una, de dos y de tres veces, y me las he tenido que apañar como he podido. Así que cuando mis amigas donostiarras me decían para quedar en el Kursal, las convencía de que era mucho mejor quedar en Amara, estación de autobuses, que era donde yo me bajaba. Así pues, el Astoria (hotel que está muy cerquita) se ha convertido en mi punto de encuentro durante varias mañanas en las que he estado esperando a mis citas no amorosas.
DÍA 1: Hace sol. Terraza. Bacalao y calabaza asada con crema de centollo. 3,50 €. Un zurito. 1,20 €. La conjura de los necios. Toole. Relectura. Me encanta Ignatius. Es tronchante. Éste sitio me gusta. Volveré.
DÍA 2: Hoy llueve. El verano en Euskadi es así. Sanwich vegetal con paletilla ibérica. Nomeacuerdocuantos€. Tiene buena pinta. Con una cerveza sabrá mejor. Un zurito por favor. Marchando. Mismo libro. Mismas risas. La gente me mira raro. Se piensan que estoy loca. Lo estoy? Viene Naroa. Pide un café. Nos vamos.
DÍA 3: Sirimiri. Se me encrespa el pelo. Mejor dentro. Me apetece una croqueta. La pido. Me apetece un zurito. Lo pido. 2,95 € en total. Me siento y abro el libro. Qué malo. Mary Higgins Clark, qué te pasa? Es el primer libro tuyo que no me gusta. Por inercia, sigo leyendo. Llegan Patricia y Carlota. Empezamos a hablar. Hace mucho que no estamos. Muchas novedades, muchas conversaciones pendientes. Nos vamos. Estamos en un cruce de cebras. Alguien me toca la espalda. Perdona, no has pagado. Muerte por vergüenza. Agachada, entro al hotel. Pago en la barra. Digo «lo siento» más veces de las que soy capaz de recordar. Me voy. Nunca volveré.

Astoria 7 is a great option for a short break in San Sebastian.
First, it does the basics brilliantly well. The hotel is clean and modern and the rooms are of a good size and specification. The staff are friendly and are quick to help you in whatever way they can. Breakfasts are also of high quality with a large buffet selection and also the option to order cooked eggs and bacon.
Second, I love the theme — each of the rooms is named and decorated after an actor/​actress who has attended the San Sebastian Film Festival. I stayed in Ian McKellen’s room and it was reassuring to see Gandalf watching over me in bed! If you stay in the suite (named after Alfred Hitchcock) there is even a ceiling projector in the room to catch a movie while you are away.
Third, it now has a bar/​restaurant which has a small range of pintxos which are surprisingly tasty. I would particularly recommend the patatas bravas (which are in fact mini jacket potatoes filled with spicy tomato sauce) and the slow cooked beef cheeks.
The only downside is that the hotel is located a 15 minute walk from the beach and the Old Town. However, I enjoyed my strolls along the riverbank on my way to/​from the hotel and, if this is not your idea of fun, taxis are readily available to whisk you to your destination of choice!

Not in the old town area of San Sebastian but a 5 min. bus ride away– and it’s totally worth it for the comfort and quite of this gem. A movie themed hotel built on the site of an old theater, the movie-​star themed rooms are not at all kitschy, but sleek and comfortable. We were in the Kim Novak room.
Beautiful library area downstairs with movies free to borrow from the front-​desk. This place is Hipster-​tastic in a good way. The hotel café is attached, but we did not try it out.

This hotel used to be a cinema, and from what I gather quite a famous one. Now it’s a hotel, yet it still manages to be all about movies.
Each room is dedicated to a famous moviestar, most are Hollywood stars. In each room you get a framed photo of said movie star on your desk and a big board on the wall above your bed with information about your star. We stayed in the Robert de Niro room which had a massive king size bed and so comfy.
There is no restaurant in this hotel, they only serve breakfast so for some that might be a problem. There is a lounge area next to the lobby that houses loads of movie related books and film guides along with a large DVD library if you want to stay in one night and watch something.
Free wifi floods the hotel and there is a computer in the lounge area for those who need it.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the Old town so be prepared to walk or catch a taxi when you want to head out for pintxos.
