The sculpture garden, located on the island of Lidingö, is a must see in Stockholm. It is absolutely beautiful! The sculptures of Carl Milles are outstanding and, on top of it, you get an amazing view over Stockholm. The museum is very interesting to visit too, where you can see his studio and more of the sculptures. The entrence fee is quite high(120 sek) but it is worth the visit: the garden is stunning on a sunny afternoon.

Review is for lunch at the café — Millesgarden Lanthandel. Semi self-service but very friendly staffs who translated menus into English for me. Beautiful elevated view overlooking Europa & tjuren. Had a very sumptuous toast skagen(shrimp) and warm bread with roasted rosemary(complimentary). Worth a visit. Garden entry 150SEK adult. Café/restaurant also has separate entry, mains price ranges from 100 – 200SEK

Take the orange line and get off Ropsten, you can take a bus or walk on a small bridge and right away turn right and walk up the hill just a little, there will be stairs on the right which will take you to the main road just keep walking to the right, about 2 km the entire trip. It took me more like 3 km because I got lost so hence the detail review. 100sek or $ 15 to enter and when you take that first step inside… you have a «wow» feeling. I had this rush of air enter my lungs and I had to exhale slowly :) It’s just so stunning. High up above water are these incredible sculptures, just feels so soreal, you feel small and just at ah. Perfect place to take your time and walk around, enjoy a book or a tea/coffee. Café is on the premises.

Gardens are nice with cool views on stockholms. I am not a big fan of his work but some pieces were great though. The exhibition in the modern part of the museum was interesting too. Service in the café and museum was friendly! It seems far from the center but you can get quickly there with metro and bus.

Very nice atmosphere, the garden felt like French Riviera. Particularly loved Milles’s studio. Very original place.

Outdoor is another world, the real city is within the concept of the Milles couple that decided to create a surreal vision in a dynamic city, such as Stockholm. The incredible touch of the operas is a feeling you can have even in a cold winter. Must be seen.

Outdoor sculpture gardens are a weakness of ours. A particularly good collection with informative curation. Found ourselves making a point to revisit after 5 years away, and brought others with us who very much enjoyed it. Nice to catch a light meal at the museum café. If the weather is nice, worth the trip to Lidingö!

Oh what an inspirational place, if only for the rambunctious owner Randy, who gave our tour group quite the entrance on our arrival! Kinda Gaudi-esque but without the Latino, newly married artist couple Carl and Olga Milles acquired a property 1906 on the cliff of Herserud high above lake Värtan on the island of Lidingö. Their intention was to build a home incorporating space for their art studios. And what wonderful artists pieces are houses in this romantic, esoteric garden from the naughty angel wearing a watch, the hand of god with a sprightly fellow on his fingertips to wearing a watch to majestic Poseidon overlooking the waters. The house was designed by architect Carl M. Bengtsson and was built 1908. During the following half-century Millesgården was expanded and developed in collaboration with Carl’s half-brother, architect Evert Milles. Between 1911 – 13 the first addition was built, an open-air studio in the form of a loggia wing, intended to improve Carl’s work environment. In 1936 Millesgården was constituted into a foundation, which was donated to the Swedish people. In anticipation of Carl and Olga’s return to Millesgården, 1950 saw the construction of the spacious lower terrace with monumental replicas of free-standing and fountain sculpture from Sweden and the USA. The lower terrace houses Carl Milles’ death, September 19, 1955 after the incredible riches his lifetime brought.
